This being the cctld section of namepros I am sure the answers I get here will be somewhat bias But here is my questions:

I found several niche generic domains with rather good overture. I was debating on getting the .net or the .co.uk version.

Revenue is important in this decision with it being a solid overture number with .com I know this would do great, but obviously not many people would choose to type mygoodgenericname.net, BUT my do people type megoodgenericname.co.uk????

Thoughts? Sorry, I am just wading into the international ext world but was wondering how well generics do for type-ins.

I agree little chance of any sales value as .ME.UK are intended for non-commercial (i.e. personal) use only.

.co.uk has high values and .org.uk is rapidly increasing as a result.

Did you check local search volume for the UK in the google adword tool before regging any of these? PhotoEditingPrograms and maybe CallaLilies are the only ones with any search volume to speak of. Some great CPC on some, but with < 200 exact local searches a month, even if you were ranked #1 at google, there's just not that much traffic.

Would you consider .co.uk as an alternative?

I am thinking of maybe buying a .co.uk domain for development.
For obvious reasons I cannot mention the name here.
It’s a premium name (1 word) so it’s not a surprise that all tld’s are taken and the few ones that are available for sale almost all have initial asking prices of low xx.xxx.
The market in which this domainname operates is pretty lucrative so even if a company doesn’t own the .com they still could make some good money with another tld. Needless to say they would have to have a good working website and marketing tools.

So my question to you is:
would you seriously CONSIDER buying the .co.uk for development for mid xxxx ?
I am not asking if you would buy it, only if you would consider buying it.
