Is the LLLL.com HYPE down now?
It looks like selling 4 letter is not as profitable as it was last week and right after november 2.

If some did a big investment on these I don't know if they are loosing money. Some have portfolio of hundreds LLLL.com that are not premium so if they spend $800.00 (register fees) how will they sell them all if there is no more buyers?

I know I have a solution (in my guide) but even this, I think that many will bite their fingers.

Do you think that 4 letter dot coms will increase value or will be selling at "wholesale" cheapest price ($6.00 - $16) in future?

Looks like the cheapest LLLL.com you can get anywhere on the web is starting at $20.00 so no more $10, $12, $16...

So any 4 letter that was paid reg fee ($8.00)is now selling for min $20.00 that's 2,5 times the reg fee (of course if it was reg on cheap domain registrars)

That could make Reece (moderator) Smile because his 1500+ portfolio now worth 2,5 times what he paid and that's a great ROI. If he waits for a few more year can be 3 times the price so his $10 000 investment can turn to a min. of $30 000 :hehe: Better than Stock Exchange investment.

And all other people that have bought for higher price (auction, resell, backorder...) should also think that their value are now double.

:)

Tdnam is really showing increased interest lately. Over 2/3 of the LLLL.coms have bids on them there ($10 min bid in addition to reg fee - almost all names without bids have days left before ending). This is up from about 1/3 of them on average last week.

It's like paying an extra reg-fee on every trade I make! (For those of us who miss buying at reg-fee, it may be the next best thing!)

It depends on which letters you consider premium - will be different for English, Chinese, German, Russian, Arabic, Hindi ...

so the ultimate tool may be "grep" -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grep
grep == "Generalized Regular Expression Processor"

can also be used to identify cvcv etc patterns ...

comes built in on any Mac OS X, Linux, or other *nix system, also available free for MS-Windows systems here -> http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/grep.htm

enjoy ... :)

I have noticed a lot of sales offers in the recent past of LLLL coms. This brings the supply up, which in turn is bringing the sales down.

Give it some time. Once people settle down with their LLLL coms and arent in a selling frenzy (as u might have seen in teh previous couple days), the demand will once again go up.

I'm pretty much hoping and betting for such an outcome. :D I'm going to hold on to the few LLLL.coms I have for a few years at least and see how this goes. The way I see it, it's just like any other sold-out limited edition merchandise.

a lot of indians, asains and eastern europeans gracing these boards. $12 a hour is huge for them.

That's politically incorrect...there are lots of rich Indians, Asians and Eastern Europeans in this world...many living in first world countries. $12 an hour would be nothing in such a case. :)

Likewise, anyone from a first world country living in a third world country would consider $12 to be quite a bit - so it depends on the country, and not the nationality.

Sorry,
I only tried to hype the premium letters, not your grade of domains.

Do you know with only $100k, you can hype current market? I don't appreciate the word "shady", if you have a lot of premium, why not
try me?

Threads like that really aren't necessary. Plus, if you aren't actually capable of following through with that commitment (that's a potential $1mm+), it makes all investors in LLLL.coms seem a bit shady.

Prices will go up if the demand is there. No need to hype things up. The best growth is sustainable growth. It'll come around... Some of you just need to adopt a 4-5 year game plan like I have :)

The accusation of hype is irrelevant. The issue is whether the 'ugly' name returns a secondary return of R(n years)* 1.2 . That is the business strategy, where R = reg price, and years = years of registration....so if the reg price is $10, then if the name can be sold for =>$12 inside 1 year then an excellent return. Are we there yet? What is the default wholesale price for ugly 4ls on the namepros sale threads?

As with any buyout there almost seems to be this sudden high, and then a slump, and then it really takes off. My guess what you call hype was the purchasing of the last names; now we'll see some nervous sellers; and in December, things will start to take off.

But in mid 2008, well that's when the rubber meets the road, and then we'll see who's right or wrong about LLLL's

I have scan all domain names aftermarket and forum website today:
A few LLLL.com are sold for Low $13.00, but most now are selling for $20.00 and over.
What does that mean? Well my prediction wil be as follow: you may find bargain LLLL.com under $20 within a week or 2 but after, no more, all will be min of $20.00 I'm sure, so I guess the best thing to do is to buy all LLLL.com available for less than $20.00 (just bought some today) now because you'll make profits in the next 2-3 weeks.
But some sellers are not crazy they keep them so speculation will be high and them sell them for more profits.

Try to list your LLLL.com in domain fixed price for less than $20 and you'll get snap within an hour. :sold:

ah .... all sellers are crazy, same as the buyers.

Some are crazy "like a fox" as they say ... others :hi: probably best described as just plain batty.

It's all good, I guess.

Yes but the difference is that some seller (selling cheap) are making less profits than buyer will do in the future. :hehe:

Hype still seems huge to me. A lot of solid sales going through eBay, TDNAM and Snap. Definately a lot higher than a month ago.

I agree. The hype is still there. Though I think it is becoming less hype and more fact, IMO. I have sold around 10 of my LLLL.com's but only because I was forced to because of a small budget crisis I had.

I think that the prices will continue to bounce around for the next year, up and down but they will level off and grow at a steady increase eventually.

that's a fact of life - the best laid plans yada yada yada ... the future is nice to contemplate, but the harsh reality of right now often trumps "will be worth the pain later" ...

And I think that's a big factor in how this little LLLL market universe is going to be moving over the next year, as valuable holdings slip through the fingers of us little guys bit by bit when the first of the month comes around and we need to pay the rent etc - we'll take $5 or $10 profit to sell a few now (and avoid paying $50 late fee to a pissed off landlord) ... It would be crazy not too, most non-domainers would agree. Probably most domainers would agree as well (ie most of us who aren't already rich from getting in on LLL etc a few years ago ...)

So the dynamic for LLLL prices could shift dramatically over the next year, as "fire sales" burn themselves out, with most of the LLLL passing from weak hands to strong in the process. (And that doesn't necessarily mean passing from small players to big ones - multi-millionaires can be overextended as well. It just means that those who are going to sell are going to sell until they have none left to sell - or until the magic "price is right" moment comes along - but that will probably right around the time most are done selling, unfortunately - that's the way it usually goes!)

WOW, I think hype is really down now, I've check many post (for sale fixed price, offer, bidding) and sellers are having lot of difficulties to have a buyer now. Looks like people are less interested for LLLL.com now

So it could be something like: You spend $15.00 for a LLLL.com domain name or worst +$100 and you will end selling it for $8.00 because no one are interested. :'(

Bad investment or Must wait longer to make profits?

What is happening is what i expected. I never foresaw these names making a huge splash. Their are to many of them. LLL.com is an oddity LLLL.com is just another domain. You need to find the right buyer.

:yell: The Hype is Dead !!! Long live the Hype ! :yell:

Let me take this opportunity to hype the anti-hype with some inspirational verse ...

(With apologies to William Butler Yeats)

"The Second Buyout"

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The domainer cannot find the end user;
Things fall apart; the aftermarket cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the registrar,
The un-pronounceable URL is parked, and everywhere
The click-through rate of traffic is drowned;
The best lack all back links, while the worst
Are payed for with high-interest rate credit cards.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Buyout is at hand.
The Second Buyout! Hardly are those URLs regged
When a vast image out of "Fabulous Moniker"
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the GoDaddy
A URL with no vowels and the tail of an alphabet,
A domain blank and unpronounceable as line noise,
Is building its link farms, while all about it
Echo hoots of the indignant domainer pros.
The RERS Group buys again; but now I know
That seven years of stony sleep
Were updated to nightmare by an unrelenting DYYO,
Now what rough beast, its reg fee come round at last,
Slouches towards VeriSign to be dropped?

:'( :)
