I believe that President Biden was right when he said that Russia is going to Invade Ukraine.

Any intelligent person is going to come to the same conclusion knowing that Russia has already decided to pay any price imposed on it by the West through sanctions.

Short of full military confrontation by the West there is nothing that can make Russia to change its mind as they see this as a golden opportunity to resurrect the once powerful superpower that was equal to the USA.

But Russia’s ambitions are not going to stop with taking over Ukraine since it already has made plans to increase its sphere of influence to Asia, Middle East, and South America and perhaps the whole World knowing that the West is most likely not going to do anything beyond just imposing sanctions which ultimately will hurt the West itself by effecting the Global economy in an adverse way the longer that they go on.

I personally don’t like any of the old ideologies, philosophies, and doctrines of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Religious Fundamentalism and all the other “ism” that are derived from the bad human characteristics of Greed, Lust, Hate, Cruelty, Jealousy, Prejudice, and lack of Empathy and that have been infringing on our rights in one way or another throughout the history because they can only exist through supporting inequality, oppression, suppression, torture, killing, and War.

When it comes to saving the World the last thing that I want to see is the further expansion of these old systems that have all already proven to be a failure in dealing with the existential problems that are currently facing Humanity and the Environment.

We don’t want all these political, Religious, and Racial parties and groups to resurrect their past, we want something new that can propel the World into the next Era that is based on the Universal Principles and Values that have been derived through Logic and Compassion and not through Force and Violence.

By “We” I mean all the Intelligent, Righteous, and Peace loving people of the World.

This is a very fluid situation that is developing by the day as we speak, as this conflict is expanded to the Western cities of Ukraine there is a very good chance that Russia is going to recruit fighters from other places in the World (mainly from Syria) to replace the forces that it has already lost.

It's worth noting that Venezuela is already engaged in talks to establish a better relations with US.

Some of the other Countries in the sphere of influence of Russia might also decide to jump ship soon because unlike China they don't have the power and resources to stand by themselves if Russia isn't in a position to protect them anymore.

I think this would speak volumes to citizens in Russia if they could get the news about this development.

Foreign mercenaries recruited to fight in the street while Russian forces continue to bomb from a distance to avoid babushka's seeing their boys coming home in body bags.

The most urgent issue in the next few days is going to be the siege of Kyiv by the approaching Russian Forces.

If what we have seen in some of the other cities in Ukraine is going to happen to Kyiv too then I honestly can't imagine how the rest of the World can just stand by and watch.

So there is a big potential for this conflict to be pushed to a much higher level in the next several days if NATO decides to get directly involved on the ground.

There is no easy solution, but the one clear outcome is Russia has already lost.

Even if they take over Ukraine by force the people won't accept it, the world won't accept it, their economy will continue to collapse, their currency will continue to collapse, the sanctions will remain, international companies are leaving, the country is toxic to deal with, and citizens have lost access to information via massive censorship.

Their military also looks incredibly weak. A worldwide coalition has aligned against their actions. They have pushed other nations closer to joining NATO/EU.

This is going to be a much bigger disaster than Russia in Afghanistan was. One of, if not the most, disastrous follies in modern history.

Well played.

Russia stages provocation at Ukraine-Belarus border

The planes struck with missiles a village on the Belarus border under guise of Ukraine’s attack, added senior European Solidarity MP.

‘It is clear that the talks between Lukashenko and Putin looked for a pretext to stage an invasion of the Belarusian army in our territory’, said Herashchenko.

The provocation took place at 2 30 pm when two Russian planes entered the Ukrainian airspace near Dubrovytsya and soon retreated to Belarus to assault the village of Kopane, according to Ukraine’s border service.

Perhaps, but don't forget that Russia has staying power and so we might see 5 to 10 years of this kind of death and carnage before this whole thing is over (provided that it doesn't end in some kind of an Armageddon in the next few weeks).

It seems that Russia has failed to adapt to the modern world. They are still using old USSR tactics, and false flag operations but in a modern world where intelligence and access to information is far better because of advancements in technology.

What is your solution? This was a war of choice by Russia.

@Cannuck , There are a couple of planes east of Ukraine with no call signs...another one that just popped up is a Antonov An-124-100 with no flight plan showing and it is headed East (no longer toward Syria). However, there is a formidable (good guys) aircraft doing laps over and near the Black Sea I was surprised to spot. If anything else interesting happens, I'll post.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

I had come up with a lot of suggestions throughout this thread, but now it seems that only a miracle can save the World.

And the longer it takes for them to fall.

In reality WWIII has already started, we might be in it for the next 10 years if not longer.

Unfortunately, suggestions made on this forum won't help to solve this.

You jumped in after all this time just to say that :)

How about a little more participation in discussing such an important matter.

Russia cannot hold out that long IMO. They have lost much and have little to gain from this debacle.

Even if the sanctions are effective it's going to take several years for them to produce the desired results.

So in my opinion this problem is going to be with us for at least a decade if not longer.

Meanwhile as you yourself indicated there are going to be food (and energy) shortages which I believe is going to start other conflicts around the World soon.

There is no miracle solution, but the sanctions are already having a dramatic (negative) effect on their economy. Assets falling, currency falling, international business pulling out, etc.

The country has limited access to do business with the rest of the world and is likely to default in months (or less).

The government can't censor how bad the economy is. People will see that in reality.

Targeting the elites and oligarchs ratchets up the pressure that much more. The billionaire oligarchs' former lives of gallivanting around the globe, hiding assets in shell companies, on their mega yachts are over.

You have already seen multiple oligarchs and prominent Russian businessmen push back on these actions.

You lose the elites, you lose power.

They might "survive" for years, but it will be without many of the amenities the rest of the modern world enjoys.

Perhaps it's okay for you to have such hopes, but the World also has to be ready for the worst.

Meanwhile everyone needs to be prepared for all the short and long term Humanitarian Catastrophes that might arise because of this ordeal.

Trust me every competent country/military has game planned for every possible scenario.

With that said, it doesn't mean the outcome is going to be good. The truth is sometimes there is just not common ground possible.

No one is rooting for this, but it is where we are at the moment.

Sanctions are having detrimental effects. Putin lays seige to cities militarily, the West lay seige to Russian economy. Will Xi fund Putin's war to drain the West or will he leave the tyrant hang out to dry? That is the question, because Russia can't go at the West alone. Everyone will feel the squeeze.
