Since the big sales have been announced by Cyber Tavern, thanks to Ammar and the XX,xxx sales of Jimbo and Vito, many people who I work with in a brokerage or consulting capacity have told me scrap previous prices.

They are all raising their prices for names in their .tv portfolios. Now in some cases it makes sense and in others not so much.

If you own LL.tv domains and then you see Verisign is reserving any that drop, then sure your LL.tv has greater value, LL.tv have become more scarce.

But if you own mediocre .tv domains, the fact that Live and Fashion TV sold for XXX,XXX means little.

You need to compare apples to apples and your three word no search volume .tv probably has not gone up in value.

But to the title of the thread, there has been very little domainer to domainer .tv sales over the past few years.

I am not talking about one big .tv domainer buying an LL from another, I am talking about the kind of business that got done here circa 2005 - 2009.

Names being purchased for $100 to $750 for example. Some of the sales and auction threads we had which moved decent numbers at wholesale.

So are you now looking to buy .tv domains at the reseller level ?

I'm not buying, just some drop (but very few).
When I take a drop I always register for 5 years to pay only 11$ a year.

Excluding drops there is not much worth buying as 90% of the people who own solid .tv names are no longer looking to sell at reseller prices.

I'd gladly buy more if opportunity arises but its rare to see a solid .tv go for sale at anything other than prices that would only attract endusers. imho

There is not enough end user activity yet to drive a reseller market. One could ask if the same seller recently sold $700k of .TV domains, why aren't they looking to buy a few more?

I will add that I have dozens of .TV domains priced $799 or below at Godaddy auctions. If anyone is interested in investing in .TV domains for more than a backorder fee there are ample investment opportunities out there. Yes, my .TV drops quite often are picked up by somebody who then puts a much higher price on the domain that I had it listed at previously (and it never sold). The reality is that five and six figure .TV sales are not the norm.

I can answer why Cyber Tavern would not be doing that Leonard, they still have an incredible number of premium .tv domains in their portfolio. 1L,1N, 2L, premium one word names.

I will add that last month I did buy three aftermarket TV.com domains...

ValenciaTV.com
PalmBeachTV.com
ConexionTV.com

Leonard,
All comes down to whether it is the best place for capital. They have enough domains now. Is a few more going to dramatically cause an increase in their ROI for the money and time put in?

There could also be higher yielding investments outside of the domain arena. All speculation.

In addition, this could all be house money for Cybertavern. They cashed out from the sale of the .TV corp to Verisign years ago. Completely passive for them.

I'm not buying, just some drop (but very few).

I'm also not buying anymore either, just keeping the handful one word .tv names I have left. I got rid of the ones I considered "junk" a while ago.

My .tv and TV.com portfolio is now down from a high of over 2000 to around 800 today.

I have dropped a few and sold a few (actually I've sold well over 500 names - many to other members here at NP) and even though I still buy (mostly on the drop or at bargain prices) this is really only now of higher end names for my own development.

I personally think .tv is a great investment but don't be fooled - buying .tv can be very high risk and is very specialised.

If you buy good names, you'll get great prices/sales or own great brands.
If you buy sh!t names, you'll end up in the sh!t quicker than a fly in a pig sty.

A few have dropped their portfolio's but the majority of players from 2007 are still in the game - and they wouldn't be still playing if it wasn't actually lucrative to them.

It appears the general conclusion is that there is little reseller activity due to inadequate end user demand for aftermarket .TV domains. If one is regularly selling a certain type of domain (LL or one-word or whatever) for $10k-$15k they should be willing to pay low $xxxx for comparable quality names no problem. If one is regularly selling one-word .TV domains for low $xxxx then they should be open to acquiring new names for high $XXX - still a great ROI. On the other hand, if there is very little turnover of .TV then there will be little reseller demand as well. Most demand continues to be for .TV drops which yes are far more competitive than five years ago. Most of my .TV domains were acquired latter 2008 to mid 2010.

I bought a couple of "premiums" in the last few weeks... Phuket.tv (backordered) and Pattaya.tv (off the shelf).
I never knew about the current "enthusiasm", I had just wanted these 2 for a while.

Its been a few years, but I would not rule out buying a .TV.

On the other hand, my TV.com portfolio has tripled in size in the same time frame.

For anyone willing to acquire .TV domains in the aftermarket you should see some .TV reverse auctions at DNX.com in the next couple weeks; a few .TV / TV.com are already live.

Are any of them yours Leonard ?

I have been submitting .TV and TV.com domains to DNX so if they are approved you will see some in auction in the following weeks. I believe Page Howe is also actively promoting his domains on that platform as well. While he has some decent domains, I doubt he will sell many at DNX as his prices are well outside the range of domain investors and even outside the range of end users which have responded to my outbound marketing efforts.
