I used flippa escrow for the transaction and the buyer has paid and the name has been pushed to his account'
The payment is in PayPal but it says that the payment could still be reversed. what's the deal regarding PayPal covering me if a charge back happens and I have proof of push to the buyers account? Can anyone shed any light on this please.

Regards Dan

I've dealt with Paypal for a long time and unfortunately they tend to favor the buyer who is filing the credit card dispute. I've run into similar situations and the buyer basically reported the dispute as a stolen CC transaction. This may not be true for all cases, however thats my experience with dealing with Paypal for the last 10 years of selling online. I try to avoid them for any larger transaction

Whats the point of using escrow if they do not guarantee the payment?

I thought the whole point of escrow is so they can't take the money back lol

if you're using escrow, just opt to get a check sent to you. Much safer that way.

Did the buyer pay with PayPal or Flippa Escrow? Those are two different things. If the buyer paid with PayPal, then you are probably not covered.

If the buyer paid with Flippa Escrow, then you should be covered. The buyer would have to state they received the domain for the money to be released to you. I don't think they would take it back at that point, as it would be damaging to their business (who would ever use them again?).

The buyer pays Flippa using either EFT or CC.
Flippa pays you either via EFT or PayPal.
Any disputes from the buyer's end will go to Flippa, and not you.

Hi Dan,

This is a current NP thread on this very Paypal topic, although it's not entirely clear what actually happened yet.

I usually avoid Paypal for larger transactions, but when I have had to use it I have had no chargeback problems. Maybe I'm just lucky...

(p.s. That is one amazingly cute baby in your avatar pic!)
Thank you for the link to the thread' I used escrow and then sent the payment to my PayPal.
That's my daughter in the pic' it's a old picture as she just turned 4 years old and is just as cute but a bit harder to handle :)

use paypal payments only for domains that you can afford to lose
btw for an amount that you can afford to lose

paypal will not help you
in any way

if the buyer has no money in his paypal account
they wont pay you

regardless if you won the issue or not

this happend to me
so please don't post I am wrong

? he used credit card not PayPal. the transaction was made through flippa escrow. I then made a withdraw to PayPal. my question is if the card company charged a chargeback would paypal cover? as they do if you provide tracking for an item' just wondered if it was the same for proof of a pushed domain? maybe namecheap would transfer the domain back to me if this happened?

Once you withdrew the money its safe. Thats what Escrow is for. No chargeback can hit you. Its their problem now if it happens.

Ok thank you for your reply' the only thing that made me worry is the statement when I looked at the payment from promicepay' (escrow)in my PayPal account' actual copy and paste'

Subject:
You've Got Money From Flippa
Payment type:
Instant

Reversals:
Please be aware that your payment can still be reversed, (e.g. if it is subject to a chargeback), even after you have sent the item to your buyer. Complying with PayPal's Seller Protection and following the trading guidelines on our Security page helps to protect you from things like chargebacks.

That is just Paypals standard text. It means that the Escrow company could theoretically initiate a chargeback against you, but that would mean the end of their business. So unless its a 7-8 figure payment you should be good.
