Now I know why I left! Why in Gods name would you delete my reply on "List You New Domain Sales"? It would help if you said something of clarification instead of Generic Mumbo Jumbo. How in God's name is a list of 4 domain names I sold a violation of Namepros when that section says list new domains you sold? How can I read my Deleted Comment (Reply) if you deleted it? I don't know who I should address this to which is why I put it in the general section. Just out of curiosity and this isn't why I'm replying, would Namepros fall apart or cause damage to users if you didn't police every single sentence or paragraph, if they weren't breaking the law and weren't offensive?

DMing a mod and asking is probably the best way to find out. If it's the post linked above I can't see why it was 'deleted', unless it was flagged due to you making more posts than usual today and/or because it has 4 non-obfuscated "urls" in it.

You're quite right that it's very annoying/frustrating to have a post wrongly removed or pending, especially when nothing is explained, so you have to waste more time asking, and since you get nothing for posting except internet points, you can end up just thinking why bother posting at all.

I'm 99% suree he already has a buyer & I was upset he couldn't at least offer me $250 more but with the prospect of having to pay a $149 renewal in 3 days, I just took the $750 and smiled! I still am convinced the $750 is the lowest price ever for Sold First Name.Ai ever but 2 years without a legit offer is not good. Of 2000 first names there are no .Coms available and only 30-50 .Ai's available all with uncommen names that make Elmore seem as common as Michael!

If a name looks very good like Aida or Alexa then it's almost certainly not available, but relatively common/familiar names, which don't seem any worse to me than Elmore, are Cristy/Cristi, Deidre, Erinn, Barbi, Ynes/Ynez, and are available in .AI, while taken under .COM.

I think the big sales are just someone happens to want the name for a brand and has the money, and that may happen for Elmore eventually, but maybe it won't; in the meantime you're forking out for renewals and running the risk of sunk cost fallacy, so you did the right thing by selling.

Look at the saving of $150 as almost making up the $250 you 'lost' (remember the buyer still has to pay that on top of the $750).

People always wonder, including me, if they should have raised the price on some 'low priced' names that sell, but maybe a higher price would get $0. You just never know.

None of"Normal" ones are available. Just as you said the obscure and I'm talking really obscure foreign ones. Use www.name.com/names and just check the box .ai and basically there are no non-obscure first names available. Elmore is not an obscure name compared to these foreign type names.

Popular things are always going to be taken on any TLD, because everyone has the same idea of getting a list of "1000 most common [thing]" and registering whatever someone else didn't get first, which is why every TLD, however garbage, has a baseline of about 50k+ names registered, or at least hogged by the registry at ridiculous prices.

WRT "foreign" names, foreign people have money too and I bet a lot of "obscure" foreign names are more well-known and popular around the world than Elmore.

WRT to obscurity of names, how non-obscure is the name Claude for English speakers? Or is it Claud?

Out of curiosity I checked DotDB and found:

So it has more, but not enough to write off the others as particularly "obscure".

Interestingly I think Cristy is a more common/normal spelling than Cristi, or at least more conventional, but having fewer registrations suggests that more "obscure" variants can be more popular than the common form of a name.

Elmore is a pretty boring name to me (sorry Elmores reading this), and far too associated with a specific person (Elmore Leonard), and I'd choose some of the available names on the list I posted, especially for a brand.

For names/words that don't have obvious, intrinsic value and come down more to brandability, it's quite a lottery what will sell, and since most won't, the ticket price for .AI makes it not really worth it.

some of us get phone alerts or visual alerts for certain threads. When it's for sales reports, we expect to see a sale report not comments, this is why those things get downvoted and reported fast. There is a dedicated section to talk about the domain sales.
