.tv Why no .tv at TRAFFIC ccTLD conference?

Anybody care to venture why .tv is being excluded from Rick Latona's upcoming ccTLD conference/auction?

Maybe he'll stop by and comment, but my take from reading his blog is that .TV isn't what he considers a true ccTLD like .co.uk where it serves a local geo area.

.TV falls more into the gTLD realm with how it's marketed and used.

Because he does not like .tv and has posted that he does not like .tv. Its his auction he can do what he likes with his auction.

I agree he can do what he wants with his auction, however, if they're claiming to feature cctlds only...they might want to mention only the ones they like

He does however include .uk for which I assume he means .co.uk , and .in - maybe .co.in also :?

And .cn & .jp which are far more suited to idn than ascii.

All the featured extensions are well established within their respective markets.
Not sure about .ph though.

Makes sense if you think of it that way. But he does seem to be "against" .tv as suggested by others ... and evident in this post. To wit,

"I have no faith and wouldn’t place my bets on .mobi, .info, .tel or any of the other common gTLDs. Don’t lump me in with those believers or mistake the points that I’m about to drive home as an endorsement of those extensions. I would lump in with the gTLDs the branded ccTLDs that attempt global reach. .TV names do nothing for me, neither do .me names."

.tv is not in the same league IMHO.

I agree but I just don't get that. .TV should be HOT and getting HOTTER. What is the #!#@ing problem (Besides exorbitant reg fees, crazy premium pricing/policies, and a whacked registry, of course... )?

Since Ricky don't care to promote the .tv extension, I guess I'll move on without him and leave him be.

I won't waste my time pining about it as he doesn't mean that much to me since he is of no use here.

Just my spin on it.

it's certainly not by popularity or registration ability!

He's not promoting dot TV because he is buying up good non-premiums name before it explodes in main-stream...
Notice the television/cable programs these days...more and more dotTV domains for stations and shows and oh yeah...those advertisers... hmm, just a thought...

Like I said before...I'm of no use to him and he is useless to me. Sounds fair enough.
