I recently sold some long 3 word domains (with almost no landing page traffic) for low and mid $xxx in GD marketplace.
I registered them for my self not long ago with no intention to sell - just for fun
But when I try to sell some of my 2 word domains with some decent landing page traffic (20-100 month) no luck even for low reg fee $xx. Why?

Your answer to your question was in your post.

The long tails sold because you reg them "long time ago".

And I bet the ones you have trouble selling did you buy them from expireds? They had traffic?

Or new reg?

Heh he actually said he regged them not so long ago....meaning they were rather new.

Maybe your niche is long tailed domains then..

They are actually in quite good demand if done right, and geo high cpc keyword domains still sell well.

It's because sometimes (or often) the unexpected happens while the expected sometimes (or often) happens not.

Probably a simple answer but without knowing the names I couldn't tell you. Regardless of traffic, if a name is good, it's good. If a name is not good, it's not good.

Personally, I'm so busy trying to sell names, I don't take too much time to analyze the motivation of buyers. A woman recently bought a two word name from me for $500 and out of all the names I have, I have no idea what that name could mean to her. Go figure.

So true! Hah

Maybe it is because most of my 2 word domains with traffic are from adult niche and visitors just want to see content not domain.
But also not true, because one of my recently sold $250 domain was an adult also and with no traffic. Funny that buyer did not even checked landing page where BIN price was $15!! LOL :xf.grin:

why not post the name, or your name are quite exlucsive ? so you can't reveal in public ?

Are they all EMDs ? maybe the 3 words ones are more obvious and clear than the 2 words ones? buyers mostly will have domain names in their minds before purchase they will not look into lists and pick the best domain!

Don't want to post exact domains I sold for some reasons, but all was .com with low exact match 1-3k monthly search keywords.

but here are example of some domains with traffic and low almost reg fee $xx at landing page.
average direct traffic 20-50 month
all .com and - price I had for moths on landing pages

xxxloves $35
mayaporn $15
bigbangporn $35
englishhentai $45
rankingporn $25
lesbianhentai(net) $45 about 100k mothly seraches
shemalelesbians $35
zeldaporn
fairyjanes $37
uncut-diamonds $75
crystal-children $8
and some more I don't want to post here............

yea few are hype-hens and not the best gems ,but still with some direct traffic and $xxxx similar sales!!!
I renewed few and changed price offers only others - droped
had a lot of inquiries form india, africa, mexico..... before

you ask everyone here for comparison, and asking why ! meanwhile we have no idea what to compare ! its same like, I have problems, I need solution! but when ppl ask, what is your problems ? and I said, I can't reveal my problems for some reason! do you think its logical to ask that kind of question ? :xf.smile:

there are 2 solution for you! allow ppl to know via PM, or closed the thread! :xf.smile:, because most reply you will get, most of the time, will end with question! e.g does your domain EMD, does your domain Chinsese pinyin, does your domain short, does your domain brandable . on and on!

I am not trying to be nosy! I do this for your own good! if I were you, I will not start this thread! because for some reason! whether you like it or not, you must reveal the domain name! If I were you I don't do that! :xf.smile: so I don't post this kind of question! :xf.smile:

You have to follow search engine evolution along with human behaviour, searching keyword on search engine were getting harder and tougher. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) were going along with it, it will be easier to get first rangking with long tails (3 words) than short tails (2 words)

You have forget to mention that most of long tail keyword have good CPC and of course low competition.
