Which is better to do?

Hey, So I have this plumbing website based in a place called Ardagh in Co.Limerick, Ireland. These are my keywords:

plumbing, plumber, newcastle west, ardagh limerick, heating, maintenence, repairs, kerry, cork, renewable energy, solar panels, biomass, geothermal, domestic plumbing, commercial plumbing, agricultural plumbing

When I write "plumbing ardagh" into Google it comes up first but when I put in "plumbing limerick" which is a bigger area it comes up in the middle of the 5th page.

I want to know is it better to have single keywords like "plumber, heating, limerick, ardagh" or better to have it like "plumber ardagh, plumber limerick, heating limerick" etc? Thanks.

When you build your backlinks you can use different phrases. Get some backlinks that contain phrases like;

plumber ardagh,
plumber in ardagh, limerick
limerick plumber
limerick co plumber
etc

All those phrases will help you slowly build up your ranking. I'm talking about the next six months to a year to see that first page.

I think ranking keywords like "plumber, heating, limerick, ardagh" will be difficult. So you should concentrate on the other less competitive keywords.

And less general ones. As rule people do search for the certain products not to learn about that in general

compound phrases or 2 or 3 words are easy to target and has a broader aspect compared to one keyword which will require lots of seo work and has great competition.

You are working what is known as Geo-targeting SEO. You are on the right track here. Optimizing for a local website is so easy.

If Limrick is where the money is then create a page that specifically targets that town. Simple SEO should get you onto the first page unless the competition also is implementing SEO.

You might also include this keyword phrase in your signature links but not like you have. Use my links as an example.
