There has been a numerous amount of complaints about some registrars for some time now. Some of them are unbelievable and some even harder to digest by the responses from the support teams of those specific registrars. (No names going to be mentioned)

    Some of the problems:
    - Transfer issues
    - Stolen Domains
    - Support uneducated/irrelevant/irresponsible
    - Payout delays
    - Character Defamation
    and many others....

Some problematic posts below (amongst many others)

    https://www.namepros.com/threads/godaddy-told-my-customer-i-was-a-thief-and-a-scammer.1178668/

    https://www.namepros.com/threads/po...l-godaddy-investigate-help-so-far-no.1178506/

You would imagine these kinds of situations happening to newbies and inexperienced domainers, but alas, it's happening to "Experienced Domainers"....

    My Question to everyone here:

When will you guys stop pretending that these "Registrars" are the best and be real and move out to some other registrars which provides better services?

Are you guys waiting for those problems to happen to you, then you will decide to make a post on NP and smash the reputation of that Registrar?

I think It's high time for everyone to wake up, be real for once in your lives and start using registrars which provides better services/Support and most importantly care about you.

If you guys don't wake up, then face the consequences and stop complaining as you were delighted to welcome those troubles/issues yourselves.

Note: Your inputs and thoughts are most welcome

Mods, if I posted in the wrong section, please shift thread to relevant section

The last time I checked GoDaddy has 60M+ total registrations.

If you have far more registrations there are going to be more issues just based on the sheer numbers alone, than with some registrar with a tiny fraction of that.

They are also going to be more visible when you are really the only well known company in the field.

Godaddy is the worst and you sound content like them, Brad.

70M domains allows them the leash to not give a****. I’m confident based on history of other companies, they will get what’s coming to them

My biggest complaint remains forced 60 lock, forced to hold a name there for 60 days; feels like years— only ones to do so for pushes...

I don't disagree with what u said, but does it mean that due to their reputation of being "well known" they treat people "domainers" differently? And what I really don't understand is, why would a domainer chose to register their names there at that exorbitant cost?

GoDaddy is not perfect, just like every other registrar.

However, I am largely happy with the service I receive from them.

It's impossible to avoid doing business with Godaddy unless you have a small portfolio. Chances your buyer has a Godaddy account is high.

Godaddy has been responsive to professional criticism. As in every large corporation, customer service depends on who you're talking too.

I just think why so many marketplace buyers can accept an counter offer just for fun, once accept it they're just gone forever and without penalty, Why don't those marketplace set up a 5% deposit before proceeding next step to confirm the accept button.

I wonder if more people on NP share the same experience as you...as per what your hint, Godaddy is not beginners/newbies friendly for "domainers"

Not sure if my post will be relevant to the thread but...

Okay, it is no secret that gdaddy is not one of my favorite registrars for more than one reason. However, I just had a situation with them that I fully expected would end up with a negative outcome. It turned out to be just the opposite. The rep was more than helpful and she did not hesitate to do what I asked...the error was all mine and they were not obligated to help me. Maybe the new man at the helm has already made some changes. I have been critical in the past and it is only fair that I share a positive outcome.

I dont understand why the buyers choice would force me to use Godaddy. That's just nonsense.

The only reason one needs a Godaddy account is to purchase names from Godaddys Auctions, which I do, then promptly transfer to Epik after the 60 day lock is up.

My point was pushes aren't required (except under 60 day lock) auth code works just fine.

You guys wouldn't want to stay with GoDaddy if what they did to me, they did to you. Without them ever justifying why they did it or why they went back on their decision, after FOUR appeals. Any and all decisions made by the men in grey suits was not appealable. Including the original action of taking my domains and closing my account. AND no apology. My only contact with them was thru an intermediary. I had no right to have direct contact with the men in grey suits, making decisions about the future of the almost 400 domains, and my account. So I have absolutely no idea why they took the original decision, or why they kept rejecting my appeal, or why they conceded on the 5th and final attempt. There was no appeal allowed to every decision they made.

I only had just under 400 domains in my account because already years before I'd decided I wanted nothing to do with GoDaddy as a registrar. When I got my domains and account back. I transferred them out the same day the 60 day lock is lifted. I still buy domains in their auctions. But all domains now are transferred exactly the same day as the 60 day lock is lifted. I would never, ever use them as a registrar. Not in this lifetime, or the next.

If this kind of treatment happened to me. It could happen to you. Do you have the same strength I had to argue a case, the reason of which was never given to me, or any subsequent decisions. You are arguing your case, not knowing what you are accused of, for the original decision, and for every subsequent negative response. An impossible task? Yes. But I eventually won the case without knowing why they took the action in the first place or why they rescinded the original decision.

A rather rude expression come to mind :)

Exactly what I'm trying to say "If it can happen to me it can happen to you"....unfortunately that's what most domainers are failing to understand..After all these awful stories, they still chose to be there, thinking this "will never happen to me"

If anybody wants to have the domain they buy from me in GoDaddy. They have to pay for a transfer. If they say no. Well it couldn't have been very important domain to them :)

    Are you fortnite?

I don't know if it was as long as your join date. Brad already pointed out some common sense:

"If you have far more registrations there are going to be more issues just based on the sheer numbers alone, than with some registrar with a tiny fraction of that."

All registrars have their issues. Whatever your favorite registrar is, I can find threads with issues. I've never had any of the issues you posted about above. If you have, I can understand why you wouldn't like them, use somebody else.

We've had 2 or 3 Favorite/Best registrars polls now, GD is in the top 3 in all of them.

I've been with them over 10 years, overall I'm happy with them. I also like Dynadot.

At the end of the day, why is anybody concerned with what registrar somebody else is using? The only thing that matters as far as that is, are you happy with where you have your domains? If so, great. I think Netsol sucks. If somebody has names there and are happy with them. Good for them, has nothing to do with me, I'm not going to try to convince them otherwise.

So from what I've read online, they have about 19 million customers. Even if they had a 99% satisfaction rate, that would be 190,000 that didn't. So I don't expect everybody to have a good experience.

    ---------
I think it would be interesting if somebody took a look (good idea for blog post?) at who the top domainers are using. They'll usually have more experience, more domains.

For a big company like GD they should do much better, there is no excuse, how hard is it to:
    - Implement convenient easy to use UI
    - Make domain push easier
    - Offer free privacy

Why would I pay $99 per year to get $8.5 .com while in other places I can get .com for less than $8.5 + free privacy + better UI + insta push + better landing page.

Because they only cater to professional domainers with 500+ domains, and treat the rest like trash

$18+ .com, and $9.99 more privacy, unless pay $99 year or $9.99 per month for "Club"? Really?

Yes, the UI and push should be better.

As far as the $99 a year, I don't pay that. I either have used coupons to get that cheaper or some years I didn't get charged at all.

    Privacy? I've never used.

Landing pages? Who uses default GD landing pages? I use my own.

Price? Actually cheaper than other places (FOR ME), did the math in the coupon thread

I have a great rep, integration into marketplace.

Somebody mentioned payment. Got paid fast for a domain I sold this week. Had a non-buyer for another one, contacted my rep, cancelled sale within a few hours, emailed me back.

And again, if you're happy elsewhere, congrats.

If you have enough volume to get a dedicated rep, bulk pricing, that solves 92.6% of the problems with Godaddy no having to go though the usual support channels.

Imo bad move on their part while they ignore new domainers with small portfolios just getting started, we find registrars who treat all customers better and they get outlets loyalty and all our domains as our portfolio grows. But GD is already large, complacent.
