I have read multiple sources on the final minutes before a domain expires. I need to know the best time to bid on a name before it automatically goes up. I've found several conflicting times:
1. Bid with 5:10 minutes left. Any time less than 5 minutes and it automatically adds 5 more minutes.
1. Bid with 2:10 minutes left. Any time less than 2 minutes and it automatically adds 2 more minutes.
An alternative method is to let the bid end (if no bids), then go to closeout. But from my understanding, it is not guaranteed it will get to the closeout list and will be transferred.
Any guidance would be great.
Final advice:
Open two browsers. First browser has item ready to bid on. Second browser window has domain in "watching" list. you can watch the bid on page 2 without refreshing the page on page 1, which adds a view count to the domain and increases chance of "being seen."
Watch out for multiple bids in the final minutes - any more than 1 bid and the name will get thrown on active list for some lazy sniper to find.
Use proxy bids: automatically outbids other bidder if your max bid price is higher than other bidder's max price. This happens automatically if your bid price is more than the highest bidder's price.
