Anyone noticed a change in Google page serp or in page rank last few days. Few of my sites seems have lost quite a lot of pages from index. Those pages used to be among first 10 page results and now they are nowhere to be found. :(

I noticed the same thing for my new site. I was appearing at top for some keywords, now not even in first 15 pages. :)

its your backlinks, and how you got them, and the sites your backlinks are on ect.. Or if you followed the same URLs that everyone else uses to post there "free links"...

a lot of people who had these SEO companies submit sites to directorys / social bookmarks are getting hit hard, but hey they still made $$$ , and thats the biz!

Not in our case. Got some few sites up on serp this past few weeks. And yes we made money and still our clients seem to be happy.

Anyway, this "rollercoaster" thing on serp is just but natural. Keep in mind Google still keeps links as the key to rankings though it may devalue some links as in the case of reciprocal links. But it's just a matter of finding those valuable links.

Cheers

Do you really believe this is the cause? Anyone can post to directories, and if you have competitors they could simply destroy your rankings by submitting to thousands upon thousands of crap directories with the same anchor text. If you have good indexed content, which contains relevant information to your ranking keywords, why would google care about the backlinks? A more serious problem seems to be links in your site traveling to other sites that are irrelevant to your content. I would like an seo expert to shed some light upon this...

I have to ask what kind of site this is. Do you have a lot of original content, articles, etc? I've never dropped more than 1-2 spots in google with my content sites, but I have dropped significantly in sites that rely just on PR or links.

There are 2 sites. One of them is a static site which I add more pages daily and updated pages too. The other site is a forum.
