Hey,

I am curious why a bunch of the big sales haven't been confirmed from the big auction.

I understand shi! happens because the one Premium .TV that I won took a couple of weeks based off of the registrar change, then it not happening, etc. but it has been almost a month now and none of the 25k and over .TV's have not cleared yet.

I ask this, not to create any controversy, not to create a troll/anti-troll debate thread,. I only ask this out of my true passion for the knowledge so I can clear up an article I wrote.
I created an article on my Blog imediately after the big auction stating how .TV was now ranked #3 overall in domain extension sales.

http://www.thedotstop.com/blog/2010/04/11/top-100-domain-sales-of-2010-tv-officially-ranks-3

AND just recently in some thread someone made a statement about .ME doing better. I just KNEW they were wrong so I went to grab my facts, and guess what...They were Friggen right! .ME had one sale up there on the boards (Call.me โ‚ฌ20,000 = $26,800 Pvt Sale 4/7/10) and .TV had none. So that little blog article I wrote about how impressive .TV was doing this year was based off of incomplete sales, and I guess it kinda makes me look like an idiot...if anyone were to actually check up on my facts.

So out of all 6 .TV's that sold for 25K+ about 25 days ago already that I said were all in the Top 100 sales this year...I dont see one of them yet.

So my question for anyone who may be able to help me is this...Do big money auctions ever take this long to clear? If so then I will just wait til next week or the following week for updates but if not, then what's up...credit problems, something else?

Just curious,
Vito.

Top 100 Domain Sales Of 2010 Tv Officially Ranks 3

I am curious also. I find it strange because I thought that the certification would have done something to make the process easy. That said you're talking global transactions involving quite large sums of money and potentially different legal requirements ( I have no idea - speculating)

My suggestion is to be patient and bear in mind the following:

The results DON'T dictate the success or failure of the .TV
The results DON'T dicated the success or failure of YOUR .TV
If there is a failure to complete you probably won't be told why

Regarding .ME

.ME is doing well right now - relatively speaking - the firstname.me auction had a number of x,xxx sales last month. The current verb.me sale at snapnames.com ALREADY has some 2K+ names with 8Days left to go (and there's me with one on BIDO!). I expecte premium hold backs to be the NORM for future TLD's because they seem to successfully separate man/woman from their money.

None of this reflects on your blog or your views on the .TV. You make reasoned purchases and best of all have optimism for the .TV landscape.

Let things unfold. What happens happens. None of it will affect you too much unless ALL of them fail to transfer and I'm not even going to put odds on that.

Don't want to spread dis and mis information.

Curious, as well.
Lots of HYPE and chatter / rumors swirling ... pretty much been that way since March and the "new pricing" scheme announcement and ensuing Sedo .TV auction(s), etc.
I hope to be able to reasonably update the running "Sedo update" threads ("reported sales" over $5,000 - by popular demand!) here with more information this week from the DNJ, IMHO. :gl:
Hopefully, the dust is settling!

Kind regards,

JFYI I have sold a couple of domains to larger businesses. In both cases the completion of the sales took longer than usual through Sedo. This was due to the channels that the buyer, on behalf of the company, has to go through ie: Purchase order, CFO/CEO sign off etc. before the payment is released by the company.

This could be the reason for the delay in some of the sales completing.

Hi, I purchased some names on the Auction like cable.tv & digital.tv and payed for some through PayPal, and the rest that were over 5K through Wire Transfer. I can tell you 100% that all the domains that were already payed for don't have this in the WHOIS:

Registrar: SEDO AUCTION
Whois Server: not defined
Referral URL: not defined
Name Server: NS1.SEDOPARKING.COM
Name Server: NS2.SEDOPARKING.COM
Status: SERVER-HOLD
Status: SERVER-XFER-PROHIBITED
Status: SERVER-UPDATE-PROHIBITED
Status: SERVER-DELETE-PROHIBITED

If that is in the WHOIS then its not payed for yet, if its something else like , "Sedo Escrow" or the registrar is already Name.Com then its payed for 100%! But if its "Sedo Auction" still, that does not mean that they are not going to be payed for in the next few weeks, tops, since some people were granted extensions for payments. I know one person myself, who payed 50% from one account and is transfering the rest this week. So dont worry about your Blog, you are right! .TV is #3, so far, this year. But its only May ... it might become #2 till year's end, who know's ? :D

THEN you can update your blog!!! :)

I do think it's reasonable for larger companies with varying authorization layers ... to take a bit longer in order to complete, that is good input; however, it's also reasonable to assume that "Business.TV" and other recent, notable Sedo auction .TV's are not being acquired by such corporate / End user type entities (and, thus, it would seem these closings should be a tad more fluid) ... regardless, I'm very much looking forward to more fully completed (and Whois verified) .TV Premium "sales" results! :gl: :imho:

Best regards,

I really figured that was the problem...big money auction = big red tape.

Thanx CableTV,
Excellent info you provided us!
Much apreciated.

As for the update on the blog...Yes I agree by the end of the year .TV WILL be #2!!! :)

Good point Len! :great:

Where ya been?

You have to update your blog bro. :)

HA!

We made HUGE progress today!

5 .tv sales in the Top 100 have been confirmed now!
http://www.dnjournal.com/ytd-sales-charts.htm

So, that leaves one more Sedo/Verisign Auction to close,
AND a new addition to the Top 100 which was just reported today!
Web.tv at 50K+++!

So, now the proof is in black-n-white for any .TV haters out there!:)

This is a great day for .TV today Jeff.
I applaud you for doing your research into all that has happened in .TV lately but I am thinking that you are gonna end up buying a .TV pretty darn soon with all of this .TV momentum!

I have a couple, if you're interested...:)
