I propose that Namepros needs to compete with Godaddy to save our profession and livelihood. The first step of gathering domain listings pointed to Namepros landers is already being implemented but needs to be accelerated to reach an impressive number to motivate third parties to deal directly with us as a community of brand professionals holding unique assets. But that is not nearly enough. We have to come together with our common interests and build solidarity by delisting our best names from all Godaddy owned properties. We canโt expect to change anything in our favor if we keep giving our enemy (Godaddy) the fuel (our valuable domains) to continue to ruin our livelihood.
I would love to see a free search engine made available from Namepros for anyone looking for a brand name for their business or simply an upgrade for their website name. We just need to get enough Namepros members with good quality names to delist them from Godaddy and point them to Namepros. Then make an app and get it listed everywhere for free. The keys for success are exclusivity, saving consumers money, not having search results bloated with terrible domain names and having an affordable, easy, safe purchasing method.
Imagine this: Consumers looking for a business domain search Godaddy and see a ton of .crap listed, see a paid add for Atom and see lots of crap listed there at high prices, and then see an unpaid search result from their bowser for high quality domain names for businesses at wholesale prices. They check it out and are so relieved to see great names that are relevant to their needs without having to burn their eyes searching through thousands of garbage domains. They also really appreciate that they are bypassing all the third party websites that markup the cost by as much as 30% without providing any added value.
If we as a community take control of our own destiny, we have the opportunity to achieve success and have abundance in our lives. I dream of 10 Million high quality domains that are only available through our community retail channel that pays us just as much as we have been getting, but offers consumers up to 30% off by going direct through us.
If someone looking to purchase a car goes to their local dealerships and prices vehicles and then goes online and finds wholesale prices 20% to 30% less, they will question why. Godaddyโs standard arrogant response is โBecause we are the biggest!โ Consumers just need to be reassured that there is a better and more affordable option for them. People are price conscious and impatient. Consumers hate spending weeks searching through low quality names and dealing with bots and useless brokers that do nothing but ask the actual domain owner how much they want. We as domain owners hate getting flooded with non stop messages from Godaddy telling us that they canโt reply back to a mystery person who has shown interest in our domain until we take the time to research and throw a price on the domain without even knowing anything about the buyer. The worst thing is that itโs most often just a goosechase because the buyer was not a buyer at all and was just confused. At least we will have the option to sell another domain from our portfolio to potential buyers according to their budget, instead of Godaddy offering visitors other domains when they land on our domains and want a lower price option. Godaddy is like a fox in our hen house. We are being played for fools.
