What should NamePros add?

Good morning!

NamePros is working on a lot of new and exciting features, and many of them are thanks to member suggestions in our Comments and Feedback section.

We'd love to hear even more! What else would you like us to add for you?

I do not think it will work. Mobile users, especially on apple iphones, do already see a lot of ads from various sources. Since this forum is ad-supported, it would then become necessary to add advertising to said app. Now, it may not be possible to implement correct and relevant domaining ads into the app (due to specific policies of android and apple). Nor is it trivial to block ads in mobile apps for endusers (especially on apple iphones), so a lot of endusers would rather elect not use this (or any other) app at all, if it shows ads, which is inevitable in current business model... Developing a forum app without ads would be great though.

They could always sell the “app” WITHOUT ads and go beyond ..it may be an investment that’s worth taking ..I personally don’t mind the website ..It fits well

Also “All watched threads” they only go by the last post or can I filter it by recently added to watch or date posted ? I don’t see an option to change it

Probably somebody wrote earlier about it but in marketplace section i see one upgrade. For me counter which will show how much you must wait before you can make next bump in exact thread. Obviously this counter will take into consideration what type of account we have.

I'd like to see a feature for members to bookmark specific posts in threads - perhaps include a method to tag the bookmark with a custom heading.

There is a wealth of information amongst the chaff, but it's sometime difficult to find it again.

Agreed; this will be available as soon as we finish upgrading our forum software.

Edit: In the meantime, you can click/tap the time on any post and then bookmark that URL in your browser.

As a suggestion /tip: Kindly create a forum section for dot coms only.
Showcase, marketplace, discussion without cctlds and new gtlds.

and add labels "dot com investor"
"new gtld investor" "cctld investor" etc

Another option could be to suggest that members start tagging such threads as ".com only" (and you can even reply to threads with a hashtag of #.com only to tag such threads yourself).

Then, you can watch and browse the tag page as if it's a new forum:

Yes. Those are oversights that should be resolved when we upgrade the forum software soon.

Is there any way by which I can bookmark particular posts within a thread? Something like "watched posts" ? Some threads are running from many years. Among those threads, all posts may not be valuable but some particular posts might be of high reference value (as good as blog posts) and members would like to refer to those again.
In case such provision is already not available, I would like to place a feature request for "Post bookmarking". It would be great if there is an option for
a)public bookmarking (anybody can see the posts bookmarked by me from my profile) and
b) private bookmarking.
If I can tag bookmarks in my profile with some keywords, it would be even better.
Namepros may even consider giving some points to the author of highly bookmarked posts. Thank you.

I made some suggestions before about an auction marquee at the top of the homepage. Homepage only. Here is a mockup of what I envisioned. Could have options to hide or show what you want. Each domain would just link to the auction thread.

Domainers are really in need of a way that is quick and easy to buy, sell, trade domains and this type of setup would not overwhelm the general idea of NP being a forum.

You could even make the marquee auctions paid - say $1 per domain to prevent the system being overwhelmed. Could also make a max of 72 hours till end of auction after last bid to keep auctions from being stale and preventing abuse. Each refresh would show a completely different random list from the previous one before it. So technically upon the third refresh you could have domains from the first load. And so on. Each page load would also refresh the list. That's a whopping 30 domains each list. The fixed price and bargain bin could still be free. Maybe add a third side bar for free auctions too. Many possibilities but the general idea is to make the homepage a quick and easy control panel for auction accessibility. Could be win - win.

Not sure what kind of programming would be involved and so there may be costs I'm not aware of but wanted to put this out there as a suggestion. Thanks.
