What is the value of a .eu vs .tv equivalent ?

Based on aftermarket sales, how is .eu doing against the .tv extension? Granted, they are very different extensions, each with their own pluses and minuses. Also, names that are great for .eu may not be so great for .tv and vice-versa, but overall what would the current comparison be between the two in terms of resale values?

It all depends :)

If it is a video related keyword: .tv wins
If it not a video related keyword, but your plan is to develop it in a video showcase related to the keyword: .tv wins

I don't know for the .eu... I live there, and I would go with a european cctld, or a .com or .tv instead.

I have .eus but not for domaining purposes. Only as defensive regs.

I think there is more potential in .tv if you have the right keywords. It is easier to get them in .tv than in .eu. The .eu attribution was a totally fiasco. There were thousands of faked trademarks filled to grab the best keywords before the landrush.

.eu isn't doing well at all compared to the .tv & never will IMO. Personally, I don't see .eu ever being worth or having anywhere near the potential of the .tv extention.

Who needs a .eu extention anyway when Europe has it's own ccTLDs anyway. Exactly like the .asia extention

I agree that .eu does not have the potential of the .tv. Imho the .tv is a cctld that may become bigger than some global tlds.

I'm just wondering how the aftermarket is treating these two extensions at the moment.

well, the main points against .eu are domainers pretty much never touch them and neither do endusers.
i certainly never see .eu promoted anywhere. the registry (eurid) screwed the rollout and resulting chaos. basically it is a disaster zone and to be avoided at all costs. imho

as far as .tv, large groups of domainers like and i regularly see tv commercials and newspaper ads using the urls from endusers

if .tv guys sorted the reg fees and stopped being so greedy, tv could be enormous as is about as good as a 2 letter tld can get imo

tv has immense potential and is trucking along well

.eu is not doing exceptionally well, but a lot better than is suggested sometimes. Lots of regs remain undeveloped but there is certainly a growing interest in .eu domain names. Comparing .eu to .tv makes no sense because they differ too much. The .eu extension is very suitable for companies that need a European identity, such as businesses from the new European Union memberstates (former eastern European countries). The .tv extension however mainly is attractive because of the association with video/multimedia. While .eu can be a very logical choice for a consultancy business or a construction engineer from the European union, .tv does not make sense for them. On the other hand, for some businesses .tv is more appropriate than .eu. In the end, you cannot compare them. You can only compare tld's that can substitute each other (like .com and .net).
