The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
update : :xf.eek:

many of the names you refer to below are submitted by the registries and marketed on their end to promote the auction.

These names also make linguistic sense. however, many names will be removed due to non interest in pre-bidding so we are moving a bunch of names out soon.

We are looking for premium .com names now. We have enough new TLD names in the auction.

What?...Michael can you elaborate on this development?

i got this email today :xf.wink:

It appears that although you were excepted your domain could be deleted to make room for more .com domains etc.. Although the new g's submitted by the registries will most likely remain because they help fund and promote namescon which gives them top priority.

That's how I see it..

Exactly what happened last time although I don't think names were removed, only new gtld registry additions that went on to the live auction, and just about the only time there were any major "sales" of gtld in the whole year.

Would you share that SkiJacket.com also got accepted. It is a great domain for sale at No Reserve. $ 151,000 Estibot!!

Current bid is a crazy low. $300.

I wonder how many seasonal jackets you'd have to sell to recoup 151k estibot

I wonder why after 30 years this "super premium" 12 character is still available.
I wonder why SkiJacket.com is also for sale and still available.

Research before you buy !
Happy Hunting

Thank you for commenting. I did do research before I bought this domain and before I submitted this to consideration in the Namescon auction. Fortunately it was selected; unfortunately it was selected without reserve.

Time will tell what this brings; however I think it will surprise you. It seems that you will not be bidding anywhere near Estibot's value of $151k (lol).

Fortunately there are people that do believe this has value. For example: Namefind now has the plural Skijackets.com listed on Afternic for a minimum bid of $ 58,500. No I am not expecting Skijacket.com will bring $ 58,500 at Namescon( I obviously would love it if it did).

What were you referring to when you stated the domain being available for 30 years. According to Whois Skijacket.com was created over 15 years ago( 08/27/2001). It was even created a year prior to SkiJackets.com(09/10/2002).

Regardless. I thank you for your comments and hope that after doing your "research" you find that Skijacket.com has value also.

Manga.asia
A few single keyword .nets

We'll see if any get picked. Already have a featured namejet portfolio running a week before Namescon so I'm not too fussed either way. Good luck and congrats to anyone who got in :xf.wink:.

How long did it take to get a rejection notice...if you received one? I still haven't received anything, and I think it's been 3 weeks. Singles/Group, Investing/Group, Pot/rs, liquo/rs (domain hack) and a few others are what I submitted.

I got a reply from Monte Cahn 2 weeks after the submission. I believe, the submissions must have exploded now, so, it might take longer for later submissions. just a thought though.

How did you get your own featured page at Namejet?
You'd have to poke your Namejet contact for one the next time you upload your list of domains you want to auction. The criteria they look at is volume, quality of the name, no (or low) reserves, etc. If you bring enough of any or all of those, they'll happily feature you (y).

I Can only say great things about their sellers platform, certainly miles ahead of GD, flippa and Sedo in the premium auction space.

That is a question only they can answer. Please keep in mind that there have been some really good domains that got denied. On the other hand there are some really bad domains that got accepted. Knowing that you might just have a chance. Good luck and best to you!

found it under their

AUCTION AND BROKERAGE TERMS OF SERVICE

4. Domain Transfer

For all Sellers who submit Domain(s) for sale using the ROTD Auction, all Domain(s) to be sold using the ROTD Auction Services (and if privately brokered within the 60 day period after) will be transacted through ROTDs or its designated partner, domain transfer and Escrow Service such as Escrow.com or NameJet.com (the "Transfer Service"). Further terms and conditions applicable to the designated Transfer Service are set forth in the designated “Transfer Service” Policies and Procedures (See Addendum 2) and such terms and conditions are deemed a part of these Terms of Service. ROTD provides the links or TOS of the designated transfer service as part of the submission and selection process and are attached as Addendum 2. Sellers agree to transfer all Domain(s) sold promptly following the sale of any such Domain.

So it seems you can not submit your recent reg domains as it will not complete 60 days of reg. at the time of auction and you may not be able to transfer the domain if it's sold.

I am suggesting bidders do the research.
All .com's have been available for thirty years. Creation date is meaningless. So is "Aged" (some like to use for value).
Estibot is a known wild card value estimator. From spot on to ridiculous.
A for sale price does not justify "value" or "Premium" either
The term is a product niche. A very small seasonal niche.

usefulness, advantage, benefit, gain, profit- all terms associated with "value" yet the only buyers are who?

Sure it has a niche value just not "Premium" value by any stretch of a salesman's imagination.
.com doesn't make it a premium. A 12 character niche will never be a "Premium"domain.

Not dis'ing the domain. It's a solid niche domain. Just disturbed by the "Premium" selection of the auctioneer like many others have expressed.
Wish you the Best!
My it be a very Happy New year for you!
Cheers

Thank you for the best wishes.

It definitely seems seems you frustrated with ROTD's selection of domains. I can relate to your frustration. Personally I thought some of my new GLTDs would be a sure thing in the selection. However it is their auction and they must have some method of selection. It is unclear to me; however I got lucky and have a few domains which got selected with their method.

I would also like to take the time to clarify some of your other comments. "SkiJacket" has 9 characters not 12. Contrary to common belief many longer domains still have a lot of value. There are quite a few 9 plus character domains reported with $XX,XXX or higher selling prices and even more with $X,XXX selling prices.

Namebio.com has 10 pages of 9 or more character .com domain sales of $10,000 or more from 06/02/2016 to current. If fact the highest 9 character .com reported during that time is $ 1,368,000. Other domains in this example have as many as 19 characters.

Here are the results in the first page of namebio.com search of 9 or more character .coms with $10,000 selling price or more:

Domain Price Date Venue
blackjackclassroom.com $14,839 2016-12-22 GD
schematic.com $11,865 2016-12-22 GD
tyreexpert.com $ 11,000 2016-12-11 SE
monochrome.com $33,397 2016-12-08 SE
bailaohui.com $10,001 2016-11-30 DC
vitalshop.com $10,544 2016-11-24 SE
xxxvideos.com $1,368,000 2016-11-20 PS
flexibledieting.com $27,000 2016-11-16 SE
uberdriverdiaries.com $16,667 2016-11-11 FL

This surprised me as well. All you tend to hear is that short domains are where the money is. I tend to agree; however there are many long domains with a lot of value. I am quite happy with selling prices in the $ X,XXX plus range.

Good luck with your domains and have a great new year.

That auction is a great example of the favoritism and cronyism that goes on in this industry. Many good domains rejected, while "buddies" with bad domains get accepted.

And did you receive acceptance of those names??? I had mine rejected.
