Do domains beginning cheap* mean low-cost/budget to americans (in a fun way) or more like low-quality (as in cheapskate)?

In the UK cheap* domains work very well and are popular cheapflights, cheaphotels etc. - but just wondering about in the US?

thanks

Im moving this to General Discussion as this is a discussion, not an appraisal of a domain name.

It can mean either. Depends on the way it's used.

If you said "cheap domain" I would personally think the price was discounted.

:hi:

Cheap in USA could have either meaning.

Cheap = discount
Cheap = lower quality

If you apply cheap to words like Tickets, Hotels, Flights, Cruise ,it will have
the same meaning as in UK.

Cheap applied to a well known brand or service would imply a discount.

If it's an off-brand, it could mean either discounted, lower quality or both.

Cheap Domains referring to new registrations would imply a discount.

Cheap Domains referring to domains for sale in someone's portfolio
could have either meaning.

If the domains are good = discount.

If the domains suck = poor quality (no matter how low the price).

Hi thanks for responses so far. So "cheap hotel" means only cheap as in low-cost , or could it also mean second rate- I am guessing it could.

I know I am labouring this a bit - I am just trying to find out if these work as domains - reason being is that there seem to be more cheap*.coms available than I would have thought if it was a good prefix for the US.

As I said cheap could have either meaning.

If the Hotel is a well known brand and you are offering rooms cheap ,
then it would be a discount (from regular room rates).

If it's a hotel you never heard of, cheap rooms could mean discounted
or lousy rooms.

when i see "cheap" domains i expect the prices to be below the market price for whatever the domains would be set at.
