Any registrar resellers using their "discount" to reg domains cheap?

I just realized this the other day. I mean. How much of a discount do people get when they become a reseller of say Godaddy or others?

is this a slick way to do cheap domain registrations?

Is it worth the hassle? what's the process of becoming one?

For .COM the registry wholesale cost is $7.85/year to Verisign and $0.18 fee to ICANN.
So a registrar is paying $8.03/year for a .COM registration.

GoDaddy offers $8.29/year plus $0.18 fee via their domain discount club.
There is really no major price benefit to being a reseller.
