What can you do if you are scammed?

I was nearly scammed a few weeks ago, i was asked to send a domain and the guy will pay up as soon as he recives it.

The guy was an african scammer, i could tell by the way he was wording his email.

What can be done though? Some people have been scammed for hundreds, is there nothing that can be done in the eyes of the law? Scammers are rediculous!
