As a hobby I am trying to start an Australian political party that invests heavily into providing free content on the internet and has a lean approach to other spending to fund that. I don't know if I'll make a difference with this hobby political party but I like to dream big.
I am interested in the idea of a policy of giving every Australian citizen one free domain name with no renewal fees and one only. (No free domain names to business or trusts.) This means that using free webhosting and free email hosting services, every Australian can have their own unique website and unique email address which I believe should stimulate the development of small businesses across the country.
I am thinking probably set up a unique .au extension that the free domains are such as .web.au with Australians having the option to pay for them if they wanted more than one.
