Idea?

Ok so I had the idea of using Linux software online. Linux is open source therfor
it is perfectly legal to open the source up edit it and make the program available
for users to use 100% online, free, no downloads. I havn't really seen this done before
but if it is posible... surely there are endless niche ideas for webmasters! I was thinking
if I thought up a website idea and made an open source program available for the users advantage
online perhaps put the words "curtosy of Linux" and maybe a link back to them somewhere visable
on the page...

Linux is an operating system.

No sorry I didn't explain properly. Basically use this idea for EXAMPLE:

Web design company... how about users interact a little bit more and use one of the companies online programs which has been developed for the linux OS system. That is just one basic idea of using a program online.

Because Linux is open source... if you or a programmer open a source file for a 'web creation' program for example and edit it then submit it back to linux it is then your program right? User interation is an important factor for webmasters, all users like to have their imput in things like that therfor it is a good idea? I just wanted to see what other people thought about this.

I didn't mean make the script available for download I meant have programs available to use online. The ideas are endless for the things that webmasters could do with open source programs. Not only is it free to get the programs it's also perfectly legal to do. Is there not a pretty big money making idea in there somewhere?

To make a successful site, you need niche ideas! As I stated in my first post in this thread ideas are endless. The unique program made for an individual website is a good selling point. If users can interact more with this unique online software then people will keep comming back.

It is possible to edit the program and make it available to use online.... Eg. a chatroom is a program usable online with no remote desktop connection. There are endless Linux based programs like banner creation, website creation etc etc etc it has to be possible to make these available for users to use online via a server!

Chatrooms, banner creation, etc, have all been done before... NP has a chat room...

None of this has anything to do with being open source either...
