Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

VR is getting huge indeed. The whole VR eco-system gets bigger with every single day. There're VR tubes, image hosts and plenty games. Not to mention NSFW stuff. Check http://VRFAVS.com for all of those

I guess this interview answers my question on a retail StarVR.... Never/Not Planned.(yet)
http://www.roadtovr.com/starvr-interview-starbreeze-cto-emmanuel-marquez-e3-2016/
By their specs, it is the 'top notch' HMD.

This is a very good read to tell you what directions the company has in it's plans like eye tracking, larger than room scale tracking, arcades and IMAX PPV.
Like many in the industry, I think getting the right oled screen supply holds them back.

I don't have this domain for sale, but the other day i got an enquiry my most expensive aftermarket buy:-

wpyO6

I replied saying what industries the domain can represent (Vacation Rentals, Villa Rentals and Virtual Reality) how it sounds 'we are for you' and how universal the '4U' abbreviation is and said i would listen to offers 6 figure US$ range.

The person replied saying, it's a great domain and how they had a feeling it wouldn't be cheap, but said they can't justify paying over 6 figures for a domain at this moment in time, i got the feeling they was willing to pay big though.

As said i don't have this domain listed for sale, but have created a landing page along with an e-mail address on Hostinger. I've done it for a few of my main domains and have had a bit of interest in a couple of them now doing that.

Marquez also elaborated on the positioning of the StarVR headset, saying that “for the moment we play pretty firmly in the location-based and enterprise market,” adding that the company has no plans at this time to make StarVR into a consumer headset. Instead, Starbreeze has partnered with IMAX to create ‘IMAX VR Centers’ which will use the StarVR system as a platform for proprietary pay-per-use VR experiences.

He compared the model of the IMAX VR Centers to movie theaters, saying that customers would come to the centers and have a choice of different VR experiences. And while IMAX is known for film-based entertainment, Marquez says that content in the VR arcades will include gaming content, interactive content, interactive movies, and more. The first IMAX VR Center pilot location will open this year in Los Angeles, and Starbreeze plans to expand to six centers by year’s end, he said.

Just got done with a mass transfer/renewal. A lot needed renewal and some I just upped to 2018+. Money money money moneeey $,$$$ .. Another portfolio year went by soooo quickly.

For those still hand regging. Reg smart or better yet target the aftermarket for quality and not quantity. $50 here and there on bulk adds up. Spending $50 or $100 for 50-100 names with promos isn't necessarily the way to go. When renewal time comes lets say you want to keep 10 names out of the hundred. You can do the math. Sure you'll have a large portfolio but who will want those 3-4 word names? Who is your customer? End user? Other domainers? Are you a passive seller? just saying Better 5 good names then 50 ok names. Better 2 great names then 10 good ones imo! Even strong names can take time to move.

Sure you can use the argument "You never know" when buying many funky, "clever", brandable names. "You never know" shouldn't be your ENTIRE business plan.

just my 2 cents

A lovely Sunday here in Boston :)

maybe yes.. maybe no

I still prefer to reg 100 names on $2 promo for $200 total
than own 2 "decent" $100 names from afterkmarket.
it's not like u can get much for $100 on auction anyway.

there is a lot you can do even in one year, if no renewal you plan to do, with 100 rather carefully selected vr regs.. be it vr, virtual or virutalrealitY+kw... if u have some vr experience and idea what you are doing whne you reg them.

that'd be my 2 cents ;)

The more time I spend domaining the more I believe in the quality over quantity theory. But obviously there are many ways to do domaining.

well.. it all depends on when your buying VR on aftermarket and when your regging it.
it's all about timing. was 15 years ago great time to reg and buy vr domains.. for sure.. but almost no one did it.. minus few exceptions who nnow can get very rich very easily from it.. was 2-3 years ago good time for reg and buy.. I sure think so. many more did it.. etc etc u get the pattern. it's all timing... all dommaining = one word = timing.

as far as I am concerned, now it's pretty much too late for both.. aftermarket buys.. cause all prices are high on good stuff. and too late to reg good enough domains to justify $9 each reg.

so.. the only option I see left.. to bulk up portfolio a bit.. is wait around for some $2 promo regs.

of course.. there is also dropped domains. in a sligthyl different category. there u get gems if your lucky. for a whopping $9 rerg fee. with no bs owner renewal possibility after.

sometimes its just better and more fun to play 100 hands of poker at $2 each bet.. thabn play one hand for $200 ;) but.. I do agree with you.. it's still gambling.. either way! hehe

Great name MRVR ,great great name!!

and about the mods, from what ive seen they are a bit confused with the differences and combination of those techs (as the general public so far ) so i think its better if the moderation of those tech threads will be done by a someone that understand about it ..
