Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Yo Pros!!

Thinking of Auctioning these top names (dot coms):

ImmersiveVR

NewyorkVR

HolidayVR

VegasVR

The time is right or should I hold on for some more time!!?

Cheers!

ImmersiveVR is one of the best names in this entire thread. Far too early to sell this name, IMO.

The others are good, but would be the names to part with, if you're bored or need money.

Just my .02...GL!

VR pioneers Felix & Paul raise nearly $7 million as Comcast jumps into virtual-reality game

Felix & Paul Studios, the upstart Montreal company that is establishing itself as a major virtual-reality player, has raised $6.8 million, a large portion of it fromComcast.

The Quebec-based firm announced the funding Wednesday morning, saying that in exchange for its lead investment, the Universal Pictures parent would receive a board seat and work closely with the VR company. Homegrown entity Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec, the China-based LDV Partners and current financier Phi Group also are part of the financing round, the company said.

Felix & Paul will use the money to ramp up technology such as cameras as well as development and production efforts, with new pieces of entertainment expected to result from the funds.

I'd hold. :)

I'd pay for featured listing on sedo for your best one that you think. And mention the others in that listing then pay for a Namebio and dnjournal 7 featured listing and of course mention thee auction on NP, and all thee other free forums.

Most importantly promote on domain cn's forum since the Chinese definitely have acquired a taste for vr domains.

I think HolidayVR is a much better name. Who will buy ImmersiveVR? Perhaps a VR studio. They usually don't have huge chunks of money to throw at names.

HolidayVR on the other hand is perfect for the VR travel industry. And that industry has A LOT of money to throw at top keywords that will sell their destinations.

That's the beauty of domaining. All names are subjective, even the premiums, and as with all names, a buyer's needs will prevail.

That aside, the others in his post are great names, and should command premium pricing. However, ImmersiveVR is far superior, IMO, and will likely outsell the other three combined. Again, IMO.

One name is VR, while the others are names found within an aspect of VR.

Someone looking for a vr name within the travel space may look toward the name you mentioned, while someone wanting a name that best describes the entirety of VR would likely choose the Immersive name. One is the universe, the other's simply planets found within, IMO.

Either way, best of luck to the seller. Cheers!

Yeah, but where is the money in "describing the entirety of VR"? What product will you sell with that?

Sure it's a great name but I think both VegasVR and HolidayVR are worth more because they are perfect for the gambling/travel companies. Those are industries that have product in place and spend huge amounts on marketing. "Immerseive VR" is very vague.

looks to me like VR will become revolutionary and huge enough to cover infinitely more than just specific keyword product selling or describing domains. it's not lack of possilbilities that's the problem with VR.. but knowing where and how to start talking about them. it can get real tricky finding starting point to infinity. and that's what VR is. an infinity of potential and possibility.

I don't necessarily mean for the immersive keyword.. but generally speaking, what you call today "very vague", should one day be called a category killer.

HolidayVR
and other geo vr names....
Why stick with saying, holiday virtual reality?
When holiday vacation rental(s) is so much better?

Same with VegasVR...would probably do better as
Vegas Vacation Rental(s).

6 Of The Best Marketing Uses Of Virtual Reality

Virtual reality is one of the latest technologies marketers are trying to wrap their heads around to figure out how to best utilize the tool to achieve brand objectives. While we’re only at the tip of the iceberg in terms of impactful ways to use VR for marketing, several pioneers have found creative ways to do it well and support their unique value propositions. VR is being strategically used as a tactic to:

• Demonstrate product attributes, features, functionality (Samsung Gear VR)

• Communicate the brand’s mission at point of sale (Tom’s)

• Immerse users in a branded entertainment experience and add excitement at pop-up events for social media sharing (Game of Thrones)

• Help consumers make more informed choices so they’ll be happier with their purchases (Lowe’s)

• Add a new, more immersive and exhilarating dimension to traditional print and video story-telling (The New York Times)

• Show how a brand can fit into an aspirational lifestyle (Mercedes)

And the best Endbyer is ?....
;)

Not sure which VR headset you currently own, but put it on right now, open the appstore, and look at all of the horror games, 360 videos, and interactive experiences.

This needs to be said more often.

Indeed, the question is, is there still "profit to be made" with this kind of domain investing?

A quick "math" check and comment regarding regging low-quality VR names and hoping to recoup your money... (Pardon my getting into the weeds here, and please check my math...)

Okay, let's say you have a low-quality 600 VR domain portfolio.

Your "theory" is that the "floor" for VR domain names is $100 per name. (I don't happen to think this is true - IMO most of these names are worth $0 - but I'll use your theory in this instance - In fact, I'm even going to give you a value of $200 per name sold to be generous...) Now, the average noob domain investor sells about 1-3% of his portfolio annually... (Again, in this instance, I'm going to assume you are a super-star, and sell 5% of your domains annually...)

So here we go...

1) 5% of 600 domain portfolio = 30 -- You can expect to sell 30 names annually...
2) 30 x $200 avg. sale price = $6000 income from sales selling at $200 average
3) 600x 9$ annual renewal fee = $5400...

$6000-$5400 = $600... Is this a meaningful ROI?

Do you see where I'm going here?... Even with the most optimistic scenario, when dealing with low-value names, you barely break even on reg fees... (and note, if you haven't had any sales to date, odds are you're not going to have an "optimistic" outcome...) Obviously, if you have to hold your names for even longer, the reg fees really begin to eat you alive and you go negative very quickly... (And, btw, you'll note I didn't even include original reg-fee costs in this scenario...or other opportunity costs, etc...)

My point being, and I've pounded this drum often, always DO THE MATH! (or, in other words, "quality over quantity..." ) As always, all of the above is JMHO... (And apologies to all for the rudimentary math lesson...;))
