Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Samsung Note 5 leaked. This is the phone that is used with GearVR (Samsung + Oculus). It is to be presented officially in the following days. Keep an eye on their new advancements in Mobile VR, check presentation time, Samsung will surely be showing something new about VR related to the Note 5.

I can't post any links because I am new but google Note 5 leak Android Authority!

That's your opinion, but all you need to do is Google "360vr" to see how many different companies, apps and domains are already being used with 360vr or 360vr in their title.

My aim is to make money, I don't particularly care what is technically VR and what is technically 360video.

I want them both to succeed but I personally think the lines between the two will eventually merge so much so that people will not even care as long as they get a great experience out of it.

I agree, but I see what Onekey means. 360 will primarily refer to the videos with motion tracking for your mobile or tablet, and vr for vr headsets. However, only a limited number of vr movies have 360 field of view rather than 180, and that will continue (as 360 is pointless a lot of the time), so 'vr+ 360 + keyword' will still be used. And yes, you're right, vr 360 + keyword is already getting traffic and so such names will have worth.

It is welcome news, we'll see whether competition from Samsung moves in the coming months.

This is going to be very hot.

Check out Google Trends for "360VR" compared to "VR360":

https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=360VR, VR360&cmpt=q&tz=Etc/GMT+6

Seems "VR360" is more popular than "360VR", but there's an interesting race on the end. "360VR" spikes up on the end while "VR360" drops almost meeting it.

Interesting indeed.

With offense intended to nobody here. I thought I would touch on many topics in the last few pages.

Virtual Reality / VR is any reality that is not your true reality. A reality created for you but not your natural one.

It was thought by many to be only computer generated (CGI) but that was at a time when Cinematic 360 video capture was just a un-herd-of invention. It had been done in the 90's but in limited ways and few knew of it. It was not 3D and always required a computer to d-skew the image as they used conical mirrors for capture.

When it comes to domains, what is a fact is not necessarily what will be driving the pricing of domains.

I have said many times that VR has come to describe AR/VR/4D/Holo in the minds of many so while we all know the difference, it does not matter.
I can see in the short term, that 360 video is closely associated with VR but there is no way of knowing if that will always be the case. I would think when everyone is a bit more complacent with VR, it will just be known as 360 video.

What does matter is what a person will type when searching.
So even if they are using the wrong terminology, the keywords they type are what changes the value of a domain.

I will say that for those of you that use google search results as a guide. You are mislead. You want accurate numbers to what is typed-in not sites resulting.
To get accurate numbers, you need a Google Adwords Account.
You can get a really good read on keyword combos with that. With emerging tech, those keyword combo's will change often so you need to re-check them often.

Some of you know that I have also preached that a new word or words could come in to describe the same and change it all. It does not happen often. But it does happen.

The nice thing about VR dom's is that the field is broader than anything ever in the history of domains so there is a good chance that everyone picking over minor details are all correct. The valuation difference between those details has yet to be seen when there are actual end user demand and availability shortens up.

On the very short end of this, it would be a good experience for any of you to be in a company's marketing dept. meeting when they are choosing a domain and/or brand to see what matters to them. It's great insight.
Things like the demographics of the likely or target customer and the words that age group use in search are just some of the considerations along with the image they are trying to project.

A secondary note to that would be that with so many start-ups with this VR, there will be many that have no marketing skills to get a GOOD NAME.
Everyone can win with this in some way. Just base your decisions on FACTS.

sorry for writing a book here.

I would not add 360 and VR or AR on the same name?? It just doesnt work...if you are adamant you want a name, get 360Keyword.com or VRKeyword.com....not both

the health industry is getting more and more in VR, even if some of you think it could takes years before industry other than gaming will need lot of time before to invest in VR, i'm pretty sure that some sector like health will be faster : http://cordis.europa.eu/news/rcn/102069_en.html?

Indeed, and I've made this point often. I've even read a domainer claiming that holographic names are still worthless because the HoloLens is not real holographics, LOL!

BTW, I wonder what your thoughts are on 'avr'? I've seen it trumpted here as being the catch all acronym for 'augmented + virtual reality', but I don't see anyone outside this forum using it. And why not 'var'? Or will vr just be used to cover all virtual/augmented realities with ar (or perhaps mr) being used when augment reality needs to be differentiated?

I have some good vr 360 combos I think :

vr360webcams.com
vr360party.com
vr360chat.com

Even if I never sell them, I'm pretty sure I can get my reg fee back x 100 through monetizing them.

Good names. I'm not saying, for example, that 'videos360' wouldn't be at least 10 x better than 'videos360vr', but then videos360 is a premium name.

360mdb.com (360 Movies Database) won't sell it, but I will use this one for myself , what do you think ?

@cordoba Same. I think if all goes well, these can go for at least low-mid $xxx. The reason they work is because, just before VR, 360 panos and tours were pretty big (thanks in large part to Google Streetview). A lot of photographers got into it and made decent money, doing 360 panos for businesses and real estate. Google even certifies photographers for this purpose (See: https://www.google.ca/maps/about/partners/businessview/get-started/).
Many of the same people are involved in VR production today.

I've got these:
