Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

Officially, they are. If you're resourceful 'though, you can get them...

That makes the TLD looks worthless.

obviously.... :)

N.et is owned by one of the fellow np'ers if I remember correctly.

quite a silly question i guess

I must admit that I would LOVE to own and develop n.et, it would be phenomenal. But I do not know if the domain can even have its DNS changed.

Let's create awareness about domain hacks by posting the sightings of well established websites that use domain hacks :)

Today I came across this well established website: Showca.se

Showcase is a premier event management company based in London. They are proudly using their main website with a stunning domain hack. :)

Oh well!.. If we're considering the sale of voc.al, then vok.al must be at least $4000!
Actually I think 250-300 is a top price for vok.al. :)
Look indam, they're both crap names... crap names backed up by an utterly crap extension. Now, I know you only post on here whenever you think it's safe to start promoting your host.al site again, but you have to appreciate that there's some folks reading this thread who know your thought patterns very well indeed.

Ok?
Voc.al is a domain hack and domain hacks have higher value to those who can use the hack or protect against the use of the hack! They have less (or very little) value to domainers who buy them to sell or to enthusiasts like ... me, although I run a microscopic-business in selling domains.
So I am realistic about the potentials of domains. For example Max has also the domain Univers.AL which seems to be good hack but has a problem! Has only one potential buyer! (he can still get a boring 5K$ from that corporation for his domain though (I do like the choices of Guerin for domains though))

C'mon indam, I can see you looking on the thread!.. All I need is the name of the buyer - it shouldn't be too hard to recollect, should it?!

It is not hard at all to collect the name at all. The problem is the ethics of the agreement. :)

I think that everyone now knows about your vested interest in promoting the .al extension, in addition to your intimate connections with the host.al website.

It is not hard at all to collect the name at all. The problem is the ethics of the agreement. :)

Ah yes, of course, I knew you'd refer to a non disclosure agreement having been signed. It seems, however, that the Albanian registry also has one of those, because it is not possible, is it, to check who the owner of any .al domain name is!

Oh well, i'm quite sure that this alarming impediment (that would prevent me from even paying a dollar for a .al domain) isn't being abused by .al holders in any way... ;)

Oh yes, of course.. Do a check on your website, what could be more impartial than that!

You asked for the Whois! I answered about the Whois Options! Unfortunately all other whois options are related to dig results and nothing more.

Note: Please keep the thread on-topic: "Value Of Domain Hacks".. There is no need to take the thread off-topic to promote registers or link to registrars and use keyword anchoring techniques to try and boost SEO. This forum is NOFOLLOW and no link juice will be passed.

Thanks for understanding and have a nice day,

Eric Lyon

The top story on Hacker News right now is a site that scans for available domain hacks.
http://www.hipsterdomainfinder.com/

Hacker News is popular enough that many of the domains are now gone. Fun nevertheless.

I have chucked up a site on Fig.ht (today was my day off) - had to change the DNS so they could take up to 48 hours to resolve, but it had to be done.

The site will now be updated and improved over the coming days and weeks. :hehe:

At the moment it isn't much at all, but I could make two statements at once with it:

1) Let domainers, developers, and end-users realise that a domain hack can be made into a site AND be valuable internet real estate;

and

2) Actually support Ukraine, god knows they need all the support they can get at the moment. As there is an information war being waged it seemed fitting that I use Fig.ht in its own little way to help.

The site will be beefed out considerably by the end of next week, hopefully I will carry MMA/UFC headlines as well as boxing and Wrestling, I will also keep the site updated with news about the Russian war by insurgency against Ukraine.

Today I came across this interesting website, Viral. It seems that they offer a nice traffic rev share for the publishers. Has anyone tried?
