Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

I really like this name. I think it has potential to be developed into a price comparison engine by the right person.

T.im

I would sell between $4k-$8k (more is certainly possible too but time isn't exactly on your side with that one) and I wouldn't think that it will be too hard to get it sold for that money (pro active marketing and full disclosure of the renewal is needed), developing is not the way forward for that domain IMO, turning a quick profit before renewal knocks is...

Good Luck!

Quick update on the hack name www.t.im which is now up and running.

We have had another higher offer this time of ยฃ3000.

We are not going to sell at these small rates but if better offers come in I will update the forum.

It goes to show "hacks" still can hack it

( 3 offers in the first 6 weeks)

Tim :)

^LOL I love that song but I hope if you are going the development route that there is more to come ;)...

I would have tried to counter that ยฃ3000, maybe double or even triple? But that's just me, I am sure you will get a very good offer some day but I hope for you it's not 10k in renewals from now :P

Great start on a great domain! :) I took my 3 country hack websites down last year, they weren't generating any revenue (neglect LOL), planning to sell them now, will likely be my next listing on flippa depending on the outcome of gener(.)al..

Wow, i'm sure a 'country' domain hack would do really well on Flippa.. What country-hacks do you have, out of interest? :)

I was expecting it to hit at least mid xxx too to be honest but yeah I did see a lot of traction at the end of the auction so I might change my mind about listing more on flippa but just putting a reserve next time, I do have some better hacks left...

Not sure Hacks have to be a generic product or service..
The need to be brandable keywords.

I have a service (Flori.st) and a product (Furnitu.re) and have not had a offer on either of these for over a year.

having said that I've not seen many hacks selling at a decent price at the moment.

Has anyone ever registered a .ge domain name? I am curious how to do that and how much it costs. SafeNames has this at $155 but maybe someone knows more.
I have registered lot of .GE domains so if you still need some advice, feel free to ask.

I also hold bunch of .GE domain hacks if you are interested in it :)

P.S. in Domain Appraisal our discussion slightly moved to the whole topic of domain hacks marketability, so I'd like to share some of my thoughts on that topic here:

1. There are companies who use hacks as main domain. I know that many of NP members are against this practice, but it still exists (i.e. Voya.ge, Frid.ge, etc.)

2. There are companies who have long names and use domain hacks for their main keyword. Good example of it is TeenagePaparazzo.com which is also owner of Teena.ge

3. Of course, there are companies with presence on Twitter or Facebook and they definitely need branded URL shortener (Oran.ge, Mortga.ge, Mira.ge, Enga.ge, etc.)

4. There is also Tumblr, who acquired Pa.ge, but frankly speaking I still don't have any info why

So, to resume, as they are buying that names, others may do it too.

why would we be against hacks?

I think the concensus would be harder to sell but i think plenty of fans in this sector at namepros
