FYI interesting article by
@DomainNameWire today with insight into GD history including this line
โIn 2007, it partnered with Afilias (also a partner on .me) to
try to wrest control of .us from Neustar. Its bid failed.โ
.US was probably more valuable at the time, however the article also shows how GD was able to help .me increase market share.
GD will also own .biz as well. Although this is a .us forum the .biz content was insightful.
Andrew points out the price restrictions lifted on .biz but due to GD using domains to sell other services, they may not raise prices as high in .biz . I have read interesting comments on biz including the branding specialists who wrote the book โhello my name is awesomeโ wishing .biz was accepted more.
Additional thoughts: anecdotally there appears to be increased reseller interest in .us and others like
@Silentptnr has made positive comments about the future of .us on this forum (which I took seriously and have profited from, thanks Silentptnr!). Possibility
@Bob Hawkes can look at recent numbers in .us to see if that is the case.
As GD takes over, I am more optimistic about .us
