How about reopening the .US dedicated section which was removed during relaunch earlier this summer?

Interest in .us seems to be picking-up and the top threads in the cctld section are continually .us. This would help both .us and the other cctld's in that section.

I have made a note of this request and when we have our team meeting this week I will have it on the agenda and then let you know what has been decided. :)

I don't mean to nag but ... how did it go?

Another vote here for a Namepros .US dedicated section. :tu:

Another "me too." I have found myself buying .us domains lately, and think they are way undervalued.

Hey there everyone, sorry for the delay I ended up being away for a family emergency for several days.

We have discussed having a dedicated forum just for the .US lovers and have determined that if you can show a strong enough following and need for it utilizing the Social Groups feature, then we will add it to the forum. We are trying to get the forums streamlined so that the forums that are not getting the same attention that they once did can be moved back into the general forum.

If you would like to have a Social Group set up for you, let us know via this thread and we can arrange that for you.

So we need to setup the social group and post everyhting in there, and nothing will actually be in the forums ?

seems we have enough people on this thread who like .us and support the new forum to make it, as we'll have the same people post in the social group.

if we have to set up the social group then not much will be posted in there as i already forgot they exist :)

Whatever needs to be done, i'm sure it will :)

Thanks for the reply.

Having a dedicated section for Dot.us, like Dot.mobi and Dot.Tv, would be great. I might be wrong, but interest in the .us extension seems higher than those extensions, but what do I know.

+1 for a dedicated .us section

I think that interest in .US is more than .MOBI and .TV combined. The fact that .MOBI still has its own forum at this point is almost laughable.

The most active extension in the ccTLD Discussion forum is .US by far.

I prefer the status quo rather than a closed group that is invisible to the rest of the forum, if that is what social group means :)

Here are our concerns... we once had a .us forum which received no activity... even now, in the cctld forum there are only 7 active .us threads in the last 100 days - ccTLD Discussion - NamePros.com

If you guys can kick up the .us discussion a few notches, and we can gauge the need to create new sub forum just for the .us - we will gladly do it.

Right now... it's up to you guys :tu: Get discussing!

I am not sure how bringing back the .US forum really hurts NamePros. It is not like it is going to cost that many extra resources.

Let's take a look at the .MOBI forum. Yeah, there are a good amount of threads there but about 80% - 90% are basically just people offering domains for sale. That is not really adding much content.

I still have no clue how .MOBI or .TV have forums to be honest. There is way more activity in the .US market than either of those.

Here's your dedicated .US discussion forum,
ccTLD Discussion - NamePros.com

I'm not seeing the activity to warrant breaking it into its own separate forum. We are always willing to expand our forum offerings when there is a demand for it.

Otherwise it's pointless to clutter up clutter up our forum list and assign moderators to watch over an empty room.

That's not true--I participated in that forum for years until it was removed with no warning some months ago. It was a main reason for me to visit NP and usually had new posts every day. Not a lot, but I don't define good discussions by the sheer number of posts.

If the .US forum had "no activity" or was an "empty room", why do you think so many of us want it back? This suggestion thread is full of people who enjoyed that forum and consider this new CCTLD merge a failure.

If Namepros does not care about the .US extension, I hope someone who does creates a forum for .US fans elsewhere. If .US ever does gain mainstream traction, you might wish you hadn't deleted the .US forum.

Get real. It was a ghost town.

I don't know. Maybe you're hoping by having a .US forum that people unfamiliar with .US will see it and gain a sudden interest in it. We had a .US logo front and center on our homepage for the .US forum for several years and it didn't work that way. Check archive.org if you don't believe me.

USForum.us was a forum just for buyers of .US domains.

>> If .US ever does gain mainstream traction, you might wish you hadn't deleted the .US forum.

Exactly my point. If it does gain mainstream traction, which I hope it does, it WILL have a forum on NamePros. The thing we're trying to say is that there isn't enough activity NOW to warrant one.

I don't know how to be more clear on this point. If there is activity around a topic, a forum is created. No activity, no forum. There is a ccTLD forum and a general Domain Discussion forum where .US can currently be discussed.

If we did not care at all about it, why would we be having these conversations with you? The fact is that we do not want to have forums that are not being utilized, it looks bad for NamePros AND for the extension.

The .US forum was inactive or close to it and therefore it was merged back into the general cctld forum. We are not flat out saying no, but there needs to be more that a handful of people posting in one thread that they would like to have it back. An extensions popularity comes and goes and as that happens our forum changes with it. Show us by activity that there is a need for the .US extension to again have its own forum.

I think you guys might have missed the key sentence in my previous post.

Discuss and the forum will come... give us a reason to make another split.
