Section Restructure

For a new person visiting the site, there are a lot of sections, many of which have little activity and no longer serve a purpose.

Here's my summary;

Domain Names Section

• Do .mobi, .info and .tv really need their own sections anymore?
• IDN discussion - again does it need its own section? The first page of threads goes back to the start of 2011..
• Local domaining groups - again, underused.
• Featured Articles - pointless - the best articles are normally placed in other sections. 8 articles in the last 2 years...?

Domain Names Section

• Again, is the IDN marketplace necessary? Is the .mobi marketplace needed? The TV marketplace should be reviewed in the next few months.

General Marketplace

• The turnkey sites for sale can just be a sub section of established sites.
• Design contests should be a sub section of Web Designs for Sale
• Scripts for sale can go under the basic For Sale/Advertising Board
• Link Exchange Requests should be a sub section of Advertising & SEO Services
• Web Hosting Requests should be a sub section of Web Hosting Offers, and Web Hosting Offers renamed.
• NP$ Incentives should become a subsection of NP$ Sales and Auctions and this section also renamed

Website Development Forums

• Web Design Reviews should be a sec section of Wed Design Discussion
• CODE and Webmaster Tutorials should be sub sections of Programming
• Search Engines should be renamed to SEO Discussion (or something similar) and moved to the 'Business' section

Adult Domains & Development

• XXX Domain Discussion should be a subsection of Adult Webmasters
• Adult Break Room should be moved to Community section with a disclaimer for adult content (and only 18+, still)

Business & Community Discussion - should be separated into different sections - business & community

Business

• Venture / Partnership section should stand on its own.
• Business Development and Marketing Techniques should merge

Community

• Young Domainers is dead as a section - should be merged with Break Room
• Radio Namepros is dead - should be removed. The HQ hasn't had a post for 4 years and still exists - why?
• Debatable whether Free Resources is necessary in its current guise.

Excellent suggestion breakdown, Thanks for taking the time to outline all this. At first glance there's things I agree with and some I disagree with, I'll try and break down the responses to each so its as easy to follow as your suggestion outline.

Domain Names Section

• .mobi, .info and .tv - It might be plausible to make these sub-forums of cctld
• IDN discussion - while not very active, it really doesn't fit within other categories and nice to have when / if IDN's start to get popular again. We can monitor this for a while.
• Local domaining groups - Another section that comes in handy when needed to organize domainers in your local area. I do agree it's under used but at the same time feel its an option people should have.
• Featured Articles - This is a forum we have actually been looking at the past weeks and are still trying to decide what to do with it.
• .mobi, .info and .tv Marketplace - It might be plausible for these to be sub-forums of the cctld marketplace.

General Marketplace

• The turnkey sites an established might even be able to be merged into 1 forum.
• Design contests might work as a sub-forum to web designs for sale.
• Scripts for sale might work better as a sub-forum in Developers for hire giving the option of custom code or pre-coded in one area.
• Link Exchange Requests might work as a sub-forum to advertising & seo
• Web Hosting Requests could possibly be merged with web hosting requests if we can get people to use WTB / WTS in titles so people know quickly which the thread refers to.
• NP$ Incentives might work as a sub-forum to the other NP$ forums.

Website Development Forums

• Web Design Reviews might work as a sub-forum to web design discussion.
• Code might work as a sub-forum to programming but webmaster tutorials covers things other than code so it might not fit.
• Search Engines is a stand alone in most communities so not sure about this one.

Adult Domains & Development

• XXX Domain Discussion might work as a sub-section to another adult discussion forum.
• Adult Break Room needs to remain in the adult section, making all the adult easy to find in one location rather than scattered everywhere.

Business & Community Discussion

• There's already have a separator for Business & Community within that section making them sub-section of the primary section title.
• Marketing Techniques might work as a sub-section to business development.
• Young domainers for now will be monitored a bit more, not sure about that one.
• Radio Namepros is another one I'm to sure about and might end up being removed completely.
• Free Resources is handy to have, not sure if theres a better place for it at the moment.

I'll reference this thread in the meeting tomorrow and see if we can get some headway on your suggestions. For the most part they make sense in assisting with cutting down on the page size making navigation a bit easier for users.

Do feedback after your meeting - I agree with (nearly) all your points made above and understand there are logistical issues with moving certain sections.

There's already have a separator for Business & Community within that section making them sub-section of the primary section title.

I don't agree that the Business & Community sections should be linked together. I don't see what PPC or SEO has to do with Free Resources or the Break Room? Sorry if I didn't make this one clear enough in my post! Reading back, it is a little confusing.

I like the idea of sub-forums in the cctld marketplace, so you can easily find the country code domains that your interested in, but, .mobi and .info certainly wouldn't make sense under ccTLD sections.

We managed without them a few years back - short term it'll be confusing but long term you'll feel the benefits - it's the same with any change, however minor it may be.

I agree that they dont fit under CCTLD - I think you could merge .mobi and .info into a different section or something though.

.tv could be a sub section of CCTLD - as it is a CCTLD... or it could go in with .mobi and .info if people view it more as a technology domain.

I like the idea of sub-forums in the cctld marketplace, so you can easily find the country code domains that your interested in, but, .mobi and .info certainly wouldn't make sense under ccTLD sections.

good point, miss type on my part, we'll have to thumb through a few different options on those 2 later today (in about 2 hours from this post).

Update:::: The below changes have been made to help trim stuff down a little bit and to see how things go.
