There are many of us Canucks on this board and the .ca market has already proven itself and has over three quarters of million registered domains - and the pace is actually picking up. .mobi has its own section... so does .us... so how about a .ca section?

Nobody else is doing it at any other forum. There are many great Canadian members here would make great mods of any such new section to this great domain forum.

Just my two cents.

We've looked at this, and we feel it's not the appropriate time for a dedicated .CA sub forum. We have taken many things into consideration, and searched multiple sources.

The numbers don't lie, and thread titles in Domain Discussion is one example...

.EU Showing results 1 to 30 of 288
.INFO Showing results 1 to 30 of 272
.IN Showing results 1 to 30 of 131
.CO IN Showing results 1 to 30 of 57
.CA Showing results 1 to 30 of 50

We will re-visit the issue at a later date, if the need arises.

The GOOD news, is that we are thinking about branching off the main Domain Discussion forum, with a ccTLD Domain Discussion forum. And of course, .CA, .IN, .CO.UK, .JP, .CN, etc, would all benefit from that. :gl:

Btw, something interesting to consider, and to help put other things in perspective, .DE is the second most popular extension now according to Sedo and many other reports. That amazing (ccTLD) country code has surpassed all others except .Com, and yet we have almost no demand for .DE domains or discussion here.

-db-, if this was to go ahead might I make a suggestion?

Allow the option to have a drop down box next to the subject with [UK], [CA] etc so that it is easy to define which posts are for which ccTLD's (for example: "[UK] {Thread Title}" would be the subject for a thread relating to a UK domain).

Just an idea :gl:

I like that. With something like that we could have an option when viewing a ccTLD forum where the visitor can select a certain TLD and have it only show those posts.

I agree, I think what we should do is can (sorry to sound cruel) the dot us section as nobody posts in it and change it to a global CCTLD. I am liking RMWeb's idea with the allowing users to only have [CA] show up,etc.

lol. Sorry -db-, but there is more posts in the .mobi section and .tv section than the dot us section times 10.

Great idea rmwebs, well I guess you could leave the .us alone just for good ol -db-.
But a drop-down of some ccTLDs would be great, or simply a separate forum for the ccTLDs.
If the drop-down is a go, there would be much modifications to be done.
I would be willing to help with anything when needed.

Just doing this to have a .ca forum somewhere :P :D

Hehe. :]

No... it's ok guys. If we must sacrifice the .US sub-forum for a unified ccTLD sub-forum, I say that's fine. It will benefit ALL country codes, including .US and .CA

No....Not the .us sub forum! Granted not a whole lot of discussion goes on there, but there are some very interesting conversations in there, and you do not have to deal with all the comments that used to occur in the Domains Discussion forum where .us haters would just come and post that .us is worthless or going nowhere.

As for the idea of the dropdown list, I think it is an interesting concept, though I'm not sure how it is that different from having a bunch of subforums. I understand that you don't want the index to be crowded with 500 subforums, but maybe just a subpage from the index with all the different extensions would be sufficient. I am not opposed to the dropdown list, but I guess my opinion is just if it isn't broken then don't fix it, as this seems like it would just create more work for RJ and accomplish the same thing as subforums.

Well what do we need. .CO.UK, .CA, .DE, .US

I really have not seen nor heard the other members of the area ask for a forum yet. If you have than add there extension, but that isn't too much.

As for the dot us comment lol. I was just joking, I like .us but it isn't really active so I thought maybe adding .ca, and the others might spruce it up abit :)

Ya, I think forums should just be added as there is a demand for them - but to answer your question the only ones I have really heard any major talk of here at NP are .us .co.uk, and .ca. Yes .de is a major extension, but there is virtually no conversation about it here. I think if we make subforums for each of those 3 extentions and make a general ccTLD forum where users can talk about any other ccTLD. If there is enough talk about any particular ccTLD then a new subforum can be added.
