How about a .ca section?

There are many of us Canucks on this board and the .ca market has already proven itself and has over three quarters of million registered domains - and the pace is actually picking up. .mobi has its own section... so does .us... so how about a .ca section?

Nobody else is doing it at any other forum. There are many great Canadian members here would make great mods of any such new section to this great domain forum.

Just my two cents.

Second the motion. Right up there with .us, tv and mobi.

Agreed eh! :)

Speaking of which, i just registered liveupdate.ca so there are many great domain names still available. Thanks to godaddy of course (for not promoting .ca extension) so many people just bypass .ca it's not even funny! :)

I think a .ca section would be great, but
there's not as many .ca'rs as there are
.us'rs or .mobi'rs ()
I think it would bring them out a bit more :)

Count on me, too!

I just would say that in my opinion .CA domains are just after .US but well ahead of .TV, .MOBI and many, many others.

I don't own any .ca myself, but being Canadian, I certainly support this idea

As long as interesting domains are available I am in for this.

No response from the powers-that-be as of yet. We need more canucks to make more noise! ;)

RJ probably has too many things on his hands right now to consider more subforums, although I'm sure if there are more members to vote for this, it may give an incentive to start this sooner rather than later

As much as I would love that. A CA section probably wouldn't do well. I would love to have it. Or even a sub forum (we don't need a fancy logo on the frontpage) but atleast it there :)

But than we would need a .de, .co.uk hrm

Mind you I would still like a .ca lol

PS. Give it time for them to think it over, I have bought it up with -db- and lets see what we can do.

I wasn't sure how many .CA supporters we had. You guys/gals are a pretty mellow bunch.

We will definitely consider this. :)

As you've probably guessed, supporters of many different extensions ask for their own section. We try to accommodate everyone the best we can, but we also have to measure the demand versus any extra time or work involved.

If that time does come -db- I will offer to mod it. I have a lot of .ca's and would love to see a section. But as you said you need to accommodate for everyone.

Thank you for the consideration.

Thanks! There is no other dedicated .ca domain section anywhere on the net - and while we might be quiet on the outside, in private many of us have discussed this.

The reason the current sub categories were started for the extensions was because of the sheer amount of threads started regarding them. I personally do not think there is as much call for a .ca at the moment. Also as already pointed out if you start with 1 where do you draw the line? are we to have a subcategory for every possible extension? If we start too many they will no longer be easy to find and the forum will look cluttered.

There is a section for .us - by all accounts .ca is more successful so far IMHO. There is a .mobi section for a new and unproven extension with less than a third of the registrations of .ca.

And like I mentioned twice already - there is a definite need as nobody else is doing it. And if NP doesn't others will do it. Many .ca domainers have been discussing this, and may move on it. I would rather see this great place do it than the competition or a new startup.

The sections were not created because of the amount of regged domains of those extensions they were created because of the amount of threads that were started about those extensions. The need arose to seperate those threads from the main body of threads as they were saturating the domain section.

If that's the reason it seems to have failed - every third post in just about every single section is about .mobi.

The sections were only put there to address the multitude of threads started in the Domain Name Discussion (and presumably the domain market place) sections. If there are domains being discussed in these main sections that match these extensions then they have been posted in the wrong place.

The .mobi extension was added not long before the landrush if I remember correctly and as expected alot of threads were being started regarding it hence the need for it's own section as it started to take over the domain discussion section.
