Can you buy just the domain or are you forced to purchase the company as well?

Its a sale of a company... what do you think!

They wont just sell the domain on it's own, once bought its then up to the owner to decide what to do with the domain/company.

I think the only way to buy this domain is to purchase the whole company just like if you want to get hold of the domain loans.com, you might need to buy Bank of America. Some domains are really tied up to their respective company.

The sale of business.com for over $300M a few months ago is for the whole company, though I believe that the domain name is indispensably the main factor in that matter.

I would pay 5b for the company and name then. Why not?

The only RFP so far awarded by the .Mobi registry was Weather.mobi to these guys. And then they blow out of town.

No doubt, after they got the .mobi there were no further mountains worth climbing.

$5B investment earning $400M/pa is a pretty good return. Murdock should eat it up.

Sorry, I was just pretty gob-smacked that you thought that it would actually be possible to buy a companies domain and not have to take on the whole company.

It's like Google. You cant really take it away from the domain because it is it's main platform for the business. It's like taking away the cinema and DVDs away from the movies industry :)

Yeh, I think Murdock should buy this and then fuse it with the WSJ to create the Wallstreet Weather Channel. All Wallstreet weather, all the time.

Before I bid, could somebody please post the domain's registrar and expiration date? lol ;)

We own WeatherFYI.com (For Your Information) and our asking price is slightly less than 5 billion if anyone's interested.

as global warming starts to "heat up" tropical storm systems, maybe they can start a new "hurricane report" channel - call it ... I dunno, how about F5 ?

"move along folks, nothing to see here ..."

We got some nice stormy weather up here in Northern California today ... maybe time for me to start developing a few of these "worthless newbie hyphenated .info hand regs" ->

WEATHER-ADVISORY.INFO
WEATHER-ALERT.US
WEATHER-WARNING.INFO
STORM-ALERT.INFO
STORM-WARNINGS.INFO

(haven't done anything with these yet, got them a few months ago with the idea of playing with some SEO backlink-building for my micro-mini site WXOH.com - back when I wasn't quite sure if I'd ever be able to get back the ~$2.50 I paid for that particular LLLL.com, LOL! - Google finally indexed it anyway after a month or two though ...)

Well - I'm looking forward a bit more to riding the wild wind into 2008 now ...!

A billion yankee dollars here, 5 billion yankee dollars there, add it up and pretty soon euro talking about some real money!
