Unlimited addon domains vs reseller accounts ?

Being a web designer i would like to hear your suggestion regarding this:

What´s the best and most profitable way of giving your clients a domain
and a hosting space ?

Is it a shared hosting account with unlimited domains ?
( where you would host all your client´s site in one single account)

Is it a reseller account ?

Is it directing them to an hosting/registrar through an affiliate program ?

How do you normally work ?


One more doubt i have - legally you should not resell space in a shared host
account right? But why do they offer you unlimited domains andhow do they know you´re selling that space ???

I host a number of small business clients through a reseller account - I can offer plans that fit their modest needs at very competitive prices. If someone needs something more, I refer them to an affiliate.

I only recommend hosts I've tried myself and like, and am very up-front with clients about the strong and weak points of each. I can't in good conscience promote unsuitable or s*** hosting to a client no matter what the commission. Sometimes it may be the less profitable route but that's how I do business .

Reselling addons under shared hosting could be awkward (from a site management point of view) and is probably against the host's TOS.

I recommend a reseller account as you have full control over the DNS settings.
You can use Google Apps fro your Domain without any headaches.

What about using an affiliate program and register your clients for a basic account ?
That way you would get most of the money back anyway right?

Does this make sense?

I am trying to avoid to buy a reseller account since i don´t want to spend much time setting account for different users and fixing some potential errors and also they are expensive

Assuming the merchant lets you buy through your own affiliate link. Many programs don't allow that.
