Here is the question:

does the .TV extension behave differently in google than a .COM?

What SEO considerations need to be made when using a .TV name?

Is a .TV name good for keyword optimization value? for example, would you get a highly searched keyword name in .TV to try o reach a high search result for that key phrase?

lets say you are optimizing for the keyword "fashion accessories", would you consider getting fashion-accessories.tv to help the SEO promotion or would it be worthless?

Any insight into this would be appreciated!:hi:

I have seen some exact phrase match benefit with .TV domains but from my limited development experience (smaller sites, not megasites) it appears the boost is less than a site receives with .net/.com. Of course, competition for a phrase will obviously affect positioning. Many other factors come into play as well and I'm no SEO whiz.

With one site, my .TV minisite is on page 10-12 of Google while the equivalent .COM minisite (another registrant) is on page two. I do get traffic from several Spanish-speaking countries (spanish site) so it appears the positioning must be better in Latin America than the US for .tv sites.

Another .tv site is getting traffic from several long-tail terms and actually is on page seven of Google for that word with 1.3 million results.

I have a .tv number 1 on Yahoo with a very broad search without the "TV" in the key words.

There is 300,000,000 sites in that search and Im number 1... But on google no such luck Im afraid.

I personally do not think that search engines favor any extension, my personal view is any site can make it to number 1, but that takes time due to how old the name is, when it was indexed, how high the PR link backs are etc etc.. basically its all down to SEO IMO.

I asked myself this question also a lot of times.
I developed a website (on a domain name i cannot mention here but is the same as my avatar) , i noticed it takes long and hard work to get some good results in google.

Google however gives me results from keywords that are produced from content in text or urls.
Yahoo gives me much better results in the actual domain keyword, currently listed 3 th on yahoo
