I feel very distraught because a scammer has tricked me out of my domain.
I only sold it to them last Friday.
I thought that Godaddy would help undo the transfer to the scammer , but theyre just directing me to a WIPO dispute.
I don't see how Godaddy can send emails that make it appear they can help undo scam changes but then say they can't help.
This was a flippa auction and the scammer tried to claim I sent them the wrong domain.
When I asked for the domain name they claimed I sent them instead, they said they were wrong and that it was another auction they won on Flippa.
I contacted the owner via Whois of the domain they claimed they won.
The owner wrote back that they havent sold any names on Flippa.
I confronted the scammer with their lies.
The continue to play games and tell me they don't have the domain.

I just am in shock that Godaddy won't offer any assistance.
>:(
Advice appreciated!

were you paid for the domain?

I suppose you pushed the domain. In this case, Godaddy does nothing. I had such a problem myself. They just say that the push was initiated by you on your own. And they can't reverse it.

But, if you sold the domain through Flippa, you should contact their support and explain the situation. I think you pushed the domain after the buyer made the payment?

Godaddy can only help you, if your Godaddy account was breached from a hacker stealing your password and similar account security issues like email scams pretending to come from Godaddy.

However, you were doing business outside of Godaddy's control. I have never heard of Godaddy getting into third-party issues in the past. So you most likely won't get your domain back, unfortunately.

Can you post the domain name here? After all, it's a scammed stolen domain by now.

Unfortunately, I would concur with the other members here. This isn't an issue with GoDaddy if you personally initiated the push or approved a transfer out.

As Shelby mentioned, you should be contacting Flippa for assistance.

So he posts about godaddy and his problems.
But does not really say what the problem is.
Or how this problem happened.

If you got money, and then transferred the domain, good luck with that.

Flippa is getting to be more and more where scammers go and set up shop.

"This was a flippa auction and the scammer tried to claim I sent them the wrong domain.
When I asked for the domain name they claimed I sent them instead, they said they were wrong and that it was another auction they won on Flippa."
I'm confused here, did you pushed the domain to the winner of your auction at flippa?
If you did so, after they have send the payment to you, there is nothing to do, it is a full deal. If you pushed the domain before getting the payment, that it is your fault and nothing can be done.
"I contacted the owner via Whois of the domain they claimed they won.
The owner wrote back that they havent sold any names on Flippa."
This was not necessary. You have to make sure, the domain you put on sale is the same with the domain you pushed to the auction winner.

I immediately pushed the domain.
It was two days later the insane scammer tried to pretend I pushed the wrong domain.
Even when confronted with the whois proof, they keep saying they don't see it in their account.
I just got off the phone with Ben T. at Godaddy.
He suggested I contacted their fraud department.
He also did verify that it's in the scammer's account.

I did, they disputed it for non receipt.

I emailed them that I found out their real name.

Suddenly they are claiming they are logged in and trying to push it back but they don't see it in their godaddy account.

I have updated Godaddy with this info and taken screenshots.

Flippa already told me that they told the buyer Flippa knows they have the domain.
(flippa support posted the whois on the message thread)

I do not see the point on this claiming, no one with a minimum common sense will push a domain before getting payment. He only speaks about a scam and repeats the same but he does not clearly say if he was paid or not. In fact he is avoiding the answer.

So you are okay with people getting scammed ?

This isn't a case of I forgot to renew my domain and it was auctioned off, that's something I would have to live with.

This is someone who is pretending they didnt receive the domain.

I already answered above that I did and they disputed it.

I have kept on pushing this issue with Godaddy and the scammer.

Now the scammer says they would definitely return my domain "IF" they had it.

I am contacting godaddy again with this information.

This is a very confusing thread.

I will try to rephrase everyone's question:

1. Did you receive MONEY from this "scammer" ????

Just answer this YES or NO.

He already answered twice that he got paid (post #11 and post #15) -- although I would agree the OP could be a little clearer.

It looks like the buyer was claiming that he never received the domain, so disputed the transaction to Flippa, but Flippa has already said they see the buyer did receive the domain name.

I'm just curious if the buyer had "buyer's remorse", and I'm also interested in how Flippa handles this since they claim they can see the buyer received the domain name...

If he already received the money, then why is he saying he was tricked into pushing the domain to the buyer ????

I feel very distraught because a scammer has tricked me out of my domain.

If he received the money as payment for the domain, and the buyer is claiming he did not get the domain, the BUYER should be the one complaining that he was tricked.

In fact, the BUYER should be the one contacting FLIPPA, because he was the one who was shortchanged. The BUYER should be the one who should be distraught. He paid money, yet he did not get the domain.

And then.... he tried to coerce Godaddy to REVERSE the domain transfer. Yet he never mentioned that he will return the money he received back to the BUYER.

Why would you want to get back the domain you sold, yet never mentioning you intend to return the money you received ??

A sold domain, is sold. Especially auctioned domains. FLIPPA has the transaction record for the auction. You should sleep soundly about it. Why worry ??

I seriously have no idea what the OP is trying to say in this thread, but just for future reference...

A quick search on this forum will reveal that GoDaddy has been documented to be of no help if you "voluntarily" pushed the domain. They don't care if you receive a payment from a third-party service (PayPal, merchant account, whatever) and later have that reversed. They may make an exception for a really high profile case, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that.

If you are legitimately "hacked" it may be another story. Believe it or not, I have heard of GoDaddy actually helping you get your domain back if that is the case. This story is an example: http://css-tricks.com/this-sites-domain-is-stolen/

Flippa, I have no idea. If you can prove you were actually scammed, the most they can do is ban the account of the scammer. Not really sure what more they could do beyond that.

If it's a big sale with someone you don't trust, use Escrow. It's that simple.

And there are only two (2) kinds of people who are going to be "very distraught":

1. A person who lost money, because he paid money to someone but he did not receive the domain.

OR......

2. A person who lost his domain, but he was NEVER PAID.
