So I received an amazing offer by email on my domain name: HomeRenters.org

$15,000 - wow!

Ok, this must be a scam I thought, so I did some research. I literally found the exact email in a google search with a thread on a different forum that explains the scam. It's an old one - they want you to buy a domain certificate of some sort before you can make a sale.

Now it's time for some fun :)

I thought it would be fun to negotiate the price way up to see what the scammer will settle for. After all, he needs to close the deal for his scam to work.

My counter offer: $180,000.00

Let's see if he accepts!

Any Ideas of what other fun hoops I could make the scammer jump through when he responds?

Whilst I am a big fan of messing with scammers do be careful!

If he does accept that, up it again, but only by a small amount - then rinse and repeat. :D

I get many of these emails, which reminds me to post them in the scam threads here.

I'm tempted to mess with them, but I chose to ignore them because of my paranoia. I know they do this on a huge scale, I think these scammers will send 1000s of these emails out hoping for a bite so messing with them probably gets ignored by them too.

My paranoia comes in when I realize that these scammers have no heart, capable of cheating and stealing their ways through life at the expense of others. What kind of person is this? Could they be capable of revenge using some other antisocial behavior? I guess I worry about the scammer doing research and attacking me in other ways, ruining my business.

Just be careful with who you're dealing with, but like I said I'm a bit hyper-paranoid.

Just waste his time with backs and forths - this may discourage them from scamming other people !
