Danish business newspaper Borsen.dk has a rather funny story about a recent domain purchase.
The succesful real estate portal Boliga.dk wanted to get hold of the .com. But this domain was owned by an elderly Spaniard living on the holiday island of Ibiza. He said he had originally bought the name, because his granddad used to be called Boliga, although apperantly it has no meaning in Spanish.
Anyway, the elderly Spaniard agreed to sell the domain, but he did not trust electronic payments or transfers. So he offered to come to Denmark to pick-up the cash! In the end, one of Boliga.dk's owners flew to Ibiza with cash in his briefcash and closed the deal. And the Spaniard's wife even served up local dish paella to the guest...
Boliga.dk does not want to reveal the price for the domain, but claims it was below USD 15,000, which is the maximum cash amount you are allowed to bring out of Denmark.
