These are some of the oldest .com domains that never expired, not a full archived list. Lots of domains dropped in the 90s, many were re-registerered.

That's because domain registrations were done by hand. You submitted the paperwork and someone had to punch everything in. It could take a couple of weeks or more to hear back. Certain domains were blocked for obscenity reasons. However, I once came across the story of F*ck.com that was one of the early such registrations when domains were still free in the early 90s. Once they became $100 /2 years, many domain holders dropped them.

Woot- heck of a filter Kemal. That's a very special hunting ground. Thx for article. Move the needle back a couple years, you'll find enea.se would be the world's first domain created, 1983.

Some ccTLDs show incorrect whois create date. In the beginning, most of them weren't storing the domain create date and then they decided to set a date.

Nordu.net was the first domain name, symbolics.com was the first registered domain name. So, it might be better to ignore some ccTLDs for that search. :xf.wink:

Ah interesting. Are you sure though, you're not talking about the ability to create a domain vs the ability to register a domain? So even if the create date was added at a later time, it would still be an accurate depiction even though in 1983 there was no way to actually register a domain, but there was the ability to create one.

To a collector, I'd imagine they'd fetch a pretty penny above market value, vs if the same name was registered without the 30 year age. There's also other aspects to aged domains, particularly at this level- we're talking the dawn of domain names. Otherwise, a good name is a good name, regardless the reg date, and most investors don't seem to care about the age factor.
