The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
@jitesh Parsad Hey your secret info got leaked to me as well so anyone who is willing to throw his premium .coms then consider me as well i'll pay $5 extra per name :D :D lolz
Just before dot com constitute any nuisance to me, I have transferred seven to you already. Just go to your CP and confirm.lol

I think the major competitors google will have to contend with are domainers who have invested so much in dot com

I still think .com will be king regardless, cant take away all those years. But IMO xyz will be doing well, the more pumps it gets like this thread right here and the news articles the farther it gets. The tentacles go deep for xyz.

Edit:

You cant say this isn't helping xyz one way or another.

OLD NEWS....
Those were from the announcement of it.

Today (or Monday) is the day it actually happens, but I don't anticipate much will change as a result of it.

7 Votes that .COM will still be king, 0 votes towards xyz.. I think the jury has spoken, lol :)

Google choose xyz just because abc doesn t exist...(being xyz the last three letter of the "Alphabet")

But aren't you guys considering the amount of .xyz domaina registered and the hype worth of current singular names is inceeasing day by day as Alphabet is being launched?

Its a bigger company holding Google and its siblings and it can come up with some new features on .xyz extension same like google playstore or something??

If someting relevant launched on .xyz then where you see this extension future?

Google is NOT ending today or any other day.
Sensationalism to indicate that Google is ending today (or Monday)... as a company name traded on the stock market. ;)

I guess Google is the king in market not .com and its Google itself because of which .com extension is at top so Only kind k mean Google has the tendency to drive traffic from .com to .xyz i know it might not gona happen but just feeling the fight of king designation between .com and Google.

No offence. :)

Google could be setting up for a huge change in their algorithms that will show sites with GTLD and CCTLD first in search results?? If they did this the .com could definitely suffer.

This thread is unbelievable. Sometimes i wonder whether some domainers are really nothing more than hobos looking for a quick buck using free internet in a public library.

What the FK does .xyz mean anyway to even think it will rule this planet?

Some college kids get into this business that way from the libraries. I have to say being more into parking domains then needing sales library could work for me I only spend couple hours making my list. That's what there free service allows. lol

then they would go out of business
No, they wouldn't. I didn't say remove .com websites from the search results; I said penalize, which would mean .com websites would show up a few positions lower.

It's already been proven multiple times (Mahalo.com, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) that slightly better or worse search results would have zero impact on the search giant. It would have an impact on .com websites only.

Either way, I gave it as a theoretical example to illustrate an important point about the future.

Google will still remain as the search engine. :) I don't think it's fair to say that this will be the last day.

Its fair to say it was last day of Google because Google is now not a parent company and its been conglomerated under alphabet.

Google just won't be trading publically as Google. Yet, the brand will remain popular and the same.

You've heard people "google it". Do you think you'll hear people say, "abc it" ? :P

Count the extensions on every sign/billboard/advertistment you come across for the next day or so and you will get your answer

With all due respect to fellow domainers here, I can't believe I am reading the hype that .com will be forgotten and .xyz will rule.

Come on fellas, it's not the end of .com and it's not the booming era for .xyz. As for the huge .xyz registrations going on right now, it's only an opportunity that us domainers are investing in (like we do with other domain extensions). So just because there are thousands of .xyz registrations out there doesn't mean that the value of .com is decreasing.

.com will still rock and isn't going anywhere. Just because Google has registered a name using an extension other than .com, doesn't mean that Google will "enforce" others to use the same extension for their website if they want to appear on google SERPs. And it also doesn't change the whole domaining world either.

Everything is the same. Just a little excitement going on, and by the end of this year, I am sure things will get back to .com again...lol.

Just my thoughts.

How about if Google planned to open 26 Child companies under .xyz?
26 Alphabets = 26 Companies
A = Alphabet
B = Bloggers
C = Chrome
D = Drive
E = Earth
F = Finance
G = Google
.
.
P = Play
.
.
Z = Zipper

And All these 26 child companies that are under "Google" right now will be considered under "Alphabet" company and you .xyz extenions in near future.

@Jitesh Prasad maybe it can be considered from this angle: Alphabet abc - xyz [containing everything - its child companies], i never said they might open 26 companies, i said they might just use this extension for all of their child companies containing 26 alphabets.

Whatever they are planning on .xyz - i think it will make huge impact in market sooner or later with .xyz extension... Let see...

Just wishful talks that can never happen to .com the king of all. Remember, that Big G is pride on .com.

The Big G is using .xyz - because it means- everything, and that is why they have launched their holding company on it; in order to have all their lesser companies under one umbrella.

That is not to say the big G wish to drop google.com. I don't think any business entity could do that and prefer to suffer a big blow of lossing such big effort it took them to developped the google.com and now to drop just because of a new extension, and I do not think they can take such a huge risk to change the search engine to .xyz as their main extension as google.xyz. If they do; they will lose huge sum of money and I don't think they will be ready to do that in the nearest future. IMO.

OK! remember when the google.com expired last week, and someone regged it for some minutes before they quickly picked it again!!! and the news is still going viral now. Do you know how much they have lost wihin that few minutes and not talk of changing to another lesser extension.

I believe they have tested it and saw the result. That senario was delebrate with my understanding, and in a normal senario, you know it takes numbers of days before any domain could expried and dropped before someone could re-register the domain; but in the Big G case it took only few minutes to expired and dropped for the man to registered the big search engine name. HUH! what a researched testing.

It is not possible, I repeat, not possible.
Cheers.
