With Verisign releasing thousands of premiums at reg fee or one time premium fee the game has drastically changed. Those of us who endulged the costs did so because it made business sense to pay a premium to capture a highly brandable keyword domain over the cost of a similar name in the .com form. Today, we have more options than we did then.
Here are but a few:
1. We can let legacy domains drop in the hopes that we can catch it on our own or via services.
2. We can buy it back from someone/Verisign who catches it which in many cases might
be cheaper than continuing to pay a high(a relative term) renewal year after year.
3. Or third, find a similar premium name either in the aftermarket, at reg fee or one time premium
payment if 1 or 2 is not possible.
These choices are in our hands and in our hands only. We invest and divest according to our respective business models and costs associated to those models under the circumstances that stand before us at any given time. IMO, Enom has a small window to either win customer loyalty back or smash it all together. Customers drive business and not the other way around. My decision will not be based on waiting for them to decide. IMO, they need us(
) more than we need them(
), whether they realize it or not.
I trust that they will make the right decision...but if not, business is business and life goes on.
While the sedo auction has not ended yet, just look at the wonderful prices in an open marketplace.
