The issue needs to be resolved to the mutual satisfaction of both sides involved. It has been suggested in various forums that the company involved approach the clients with a one-time “buy-out” offer, whereby the holder who has been paying a premium yearly fee all this time pay a one-time price to keep the domain and enjoy the benefit of a yearly normal registration fee, rather than allowing their name to drop and take a gamble on whether they could get the name again. It has also been suggested to just allow registration fees for the loyal base without any fanfare at all.

I agree that this is a PROBLEM for those that own and have been paying HEFTY annual :$: "Premium" renewal fees ... and it could very well end up in legal action, IMHO. However, I disagree that Verisign ... which is a greed enterprise ... will offer any type of favorable "buy out" or settle for standard $Xx renewal fees for these folks as loyalty is definitely not in their chemistry! :guilty: :imho:
My general advise would be to DROP these costly / "sunk cost" gambles! :yell:

...of course it is your opinion that it is a greed enterprise...but that has yet to be ascertained pending their agenda toward the premium name holders, if there is any further one forthcoming. Time will tell, I guess.

They are still a large company and may think as most large companies do. To say they do not concern themselves with their good name is a pretty bold claim to make. Unless you have inside information, I do not see them as that type of entity.

But again time will tell...who knows, you may be right on this...then again you may not be right.

Barclays Bank spent way more money and effort on attempting to get their reputation and lost business back (and it took a good 10-15 years to do so) than they ever gained from the stupidity that made them lose it on the first place.

Perhaps Verisign should consider that Barclays similarly thought the issue too small to be of major concern to the more general public.
