Do others here think it is time for a separate forum for LLLL.com's similar to the .tv forum where they can be bought, sold and discussed? There appears to be too many threads pertaining to this subject especially in the sales forums. Reminds me of the Klondike gold rush where everyone is clamering to stake their claim!! It's getting to the point where it seems unless you are selling a LLLL.com you may as well forget it! JMHO

Why delete my post?

I will say it again. This is bad idea for short domains, as this makes them become fads; and this is bad idea overall, as it reduces the traffic to namepros.

Your post was removed due to the fact we don't need world war 3 started here in the short domain forums. If your here just to start trouble post elsewhere please. ;)

The need for this section was driven by those who don’t like LLLL’s. Understand this. In three years, everything you’re reading right now will not matter. Section or no section, LLLL’s happened.

If you’re reading this and it’s 2010, keep digging.

I was one of the earlier supporters of a separate subforum for LLLL.coms, having raised the idea in the Suggestions forum a couple months back..

I agree with you on Point #1. Also, there are alot of LLLL.com investors who want a place to discuss their investments without being ridiculed.

As for Point #2.. Maybe, maybe not. If the LLLL.com "fad" were to die down, I would agree that this would expedite the process. Personally, I prefer to invest in something which I believe is a legitimately good investment, not capitalize on the foolishness of others. I can't speak for others here, but I don't think many people invested in LLLL.coms solely to "find a bigger sucker".

I don't think having a separate subforum will necessarily make prices grow faster, however I do think it may very well foster a close-knit community within the Namepros community which is dedicated to short domains.

If having this subforum gets you a few new contacts in the industry, encourages the sharing of information, and in the process helps us all in making more educated investments, then it was a great addition imho.

It'll most likely be bad (short-term) for the LLLL.com market, if not solely because we won't have as many uneducated newbies (the "bigger sucker") buying LLLL.coms without even thinking about why. I doubt prices will go down, but could see prices appreciating slower - and very likely at least here at Namepros.

Once again, everyone will need to ask themselves why they invested in LLLL.coms. If it was to "find a bigger sucker", then perhaps you should look at what the U.S. real estate market has taught us about making such foolish uneducated investments. If, on the other hand, you've carefully analyzed the facts and see LLLL.coms being excellent investments both now and in the future, what does it matter what short term impact this subforum may necessarily cause?

Having it in the Domain Discussion forum imho was a recipe for pump and dump and attempted short-term price manipulation. At least now people have to be seeking out similar domains to end up here.. At the end of the day, when all is said and done, endusers (and domainers behaving as endusers would) will decide the fate of this market, not this subforum or even Namepros as a whole... It only takes a few sales like UNET to truly realize the potential this market has both now and in the forseeable future.

There are two kinds of ppl for it

1) Ppl who are tired of LLLL.com threads. The want to move it to a little section.

2) Ppl who think a separate thread will somehow make LLLL.com grow.

For "1" they get their wish. And for "2" eventually the LLLL.com fad will die down faster than before. Either way bad for LLLL.com

I'm a big believer in letting market forces take its course. This will expedite the correction IMO.

Great post Reece!

As a domainer who specialises in short domains, I was a big supporter of this section because:

A) It opens opportunities for more in depth conversations about specific elements of short domains.

B) It opens opportunites for more in depth relationships between domainers who also specialise in short domains.

C) The main discussion section was getting too crowded for short domain discussion since the popularity of these domains has grown considerably in the last 12 months.

Can we please just ignore the naysayers? Whether about the need of the separate section or the viability of short domains. After all the NP management is smart enough to have seen the need for this and they're smart cookies, all of them.

I for one plan to, I've wasted enough time with this breed of people and can't afford to waste even a second on them now.

If someone says they don't see the value, let them do their own research either way, don't enlighten them :) or even argue with them, makes them think they're onto something and actually encourages them.
