Thousands of NNNN.mobi are set to expire in February '08... many will not be renewed.

Don't make the same mistakes as their original owners, generally speaking ... and keep abreast of what is really going on in the .MOBI namespace and aftermarket (including "sales" at Sedo), etc! :imho:

Agreed Jeff. I wouldn't be surprised if 200,000-300,000 .mobis (half of all regs) dropped tbh.

And Im selling 13 in the .mobi section lol. Oh well, I have made excellent investments with L-L-L.com's and LLLL.com's. Keeping my core .mobi's though. Thats the thing with speculation- you win some and loose some....

I'm in the same position Gary. Made out well enough with LLLL.coms that I could drop every .mobi I have and still be way ahead

i doubt half of all regs will be dropped... but i agree the number will be big.

i was planning on writing a post about .mobi drops in general soon.. but figured i'd get specific with the NNNN.mobi first.... which will be at least 2,000 dropping around the same date, probably even more.

Righto, good point Gary ... my few remaining .MOBI's are all bought and paid for, as well - but there is little doubt that there are MANY many who won't be as fortunate with their large quantity / generally low quality .MOBI undeveloped registrations ... stemming from HYPE and "irrational exuberace"! :imho:

Hoping that our collective experience here leads to wise speculation in the future (.MOBI or otherwise), IMHO! :gl:

It certainly appears it is intended to inflame people here. Funny thing is it only serves to illustrate the need for .mobi. The sites listed don't even agree on how users access the mobile web.

There is certainly a lot of junk that was registered, it fills the sales board. Bargain hunters should remember that a two year registration was required for the first four months before one year regs were allowed, so the best stuff will not be dropping now.

There are something like 700,000 Mobi names registered in total - quite a small number.
