You can't always go by their feedback either. About 3 years ago I was looking for a digital camera and I searched around for a bit trying to decide which one I wanted. I found a guy selling the one I wanted with perfect feedback, so I went with him and used the BIN option for just about $300.
Needless to say he turned out to be a scammer and sent out a mass email to his customers stating his supplier had gone out of business without notice. After months of BS and all of the scammed customers emailing each other back and forth trying to get justice for this idiot, he got off free as he filed for bankruptcy.
The Dallas FBI (where the "supplier" was located) and the guy's local police department was involved, but nothing got done other than him getting off free. I did receive the $180 refund from eBay that they cover for fraud, so was only out $120...but there were some who were out as much as $4,000.
He had perfect feedback so I believe he was working for awhile legitimately to build his feedback up so he could go out with a bang as he swindled $189,000 and nearly 200 people that I'm aware of (may of been more). It's ashame when these lowlife idiots get away with this kind of crap. :td:
When buying on eBay (or any auction) then always:
1) Use a credit card ONLY, no money orders as it's much easier to do a fraud complaint with your credit card company.
2) Buy from reputatable Powersellers ONLY, as they are held to higher standards and must follow tight requirements to keep the powerseller status.
Everyone should always do detective work before buying to make sure there are no warnings, complaints, etc.. about that seller or company. Don't just jump in and go for the "cheapest" - spend a little extra time to make sure the person you buy from will not take your money and head for the hills...
