The value of a domain has as much to do with the size of the buyer's vision as the domain itself.

I have domains that I sell for five figures where previously someone was trying to convince me to sell for $1000. (or less).

"What do you plan to do with the domain?"

"Oh, some kind of blog, or maybe a home based business."

The buyer's vision enables him to use the domain for something that will generate enough revenue or at least traffic to justify buying it in the first place. A small vision, for a low end business, doesn't justify paying a lot for a domain. But neither does it justify selling a high potential domain for a low price.

Mostly, you just have to wait for someone whose pocketbook matches his vision, to sell a good domain for what it is truly worth.
