Yup, they paid $4.5B to Houston based Kinder-Morgan to help Alberta for a pipeline during all time low oil prices, lol. Not very well planned IMO. BTW, I never supported the Liberals...don't even know why the National Coalition of Chiefs supported it. Trying to end poverty on reserves, I guess why they back the project - Fail.

I think buying the pipeline was a genius move, it is only taxpayers money and future generations will be on the hook for the national debt, if there is anything left of the canadian economy. Liberals were facing backlash from blocking all the projects so they did a humane thing for the investors only and took it on. This way they can increase the costs to the point where the pipeline was unprofitable for transport and waste more tax dollars. Bringing socialism and making it acceptable is no easy task, people really need to be in dire straights to look to that as a solution so what ever problems government creates is one step closer to the socialist utopia.

I was encouraged to see National Coalition of Chiefs supporting it and maybe it was them or another Indigenous organization that wanted to purchase it. It would have been tougher to block it under those circumstances. Most people in Canada realize that functioning economy is lives and no doubt indigenous people know that too.

If green tech was such a panacea it would not need subsidies and it would embraced by the private sector which would turn a profit from it. But we know this is not the case.
There is no substitution to oil and gas no matter how you dress up electric motors and build wind turbines.

Jobs is what they want. Education for their children and a future that would help them out of poverty. That was their primary motive, not make a quick buck and destroy the environment, most people ought to know that.

Export oil and import cheap Chinese products to turn a quick buck rather than developing the infrastructure is why we're in this mess. They could've bought the Chinese solar panels instead and save a whack of money. Again, had Conservatives in Alberta followed Saudi Arabia's lead and gone that route when they had the oil revenue, instead of the cronyism and corruption would've prevented the scenario.

China would not be a threat to countries if politician didn't get in the way of economics. And for someone who complains about China, you yourself seem to be infatuated with global socialism. I think, the only concern for globalists is to make sure China stays under their influence because they are creating the future model of controlled society that appeals to psychopaths.

Fairy tales you say? When I was a youth, I watched Star Trek. Communicators and computers were only sci-fi back in the 60's, but just look at how fast the technology has developed. We have smartphones and virtual reality now. I sent one of the first digital images across the Atlantic Ocean from a digital camera that my partner and I built in our basement. I was into fibre optics before most cities. I've built electric vehicles...I think globally, and having lived in China, I have a pretty good idea of how things are there. Not dissing, just making educated and innovative ideas come to life. Have you ever set up a solar farm? I have. If I can do it, surely there are experts now who can do it 10x better...just saying. Fairy tales that we can replace the use of oil and gas in world's economy with renewables. "The green new deal..etc" If it ever would happen it would not require the government force to do it but would be done voluntarily because it meets the demands of a free marketplace. I can't speak of personal stories and not sure what was the point. Everything has its place, so do solar panels but let the need and want of the free market decide what it produces and uses and not taxation of future generation in search of environmental dreams.
