Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Some valid points there DDDDot.

One of the reasons we jumped in is because of the growing use of mobile phones around the world and the need for many consumers in developing countries to be able to easily communicate with their peers and customers.

Errrr...that and a massive movement back to phone sex ... :$:

I reg'd some "phonesex" type names...just in case... But, my question to everybody else, is do you think "phonesex" is a good angle for .tel's?

I keep flip-flopping on it.... One day I think no... the next I think absolutely!

On the "absolutely" days, I tell myself that a good reason for it to take hold is the fact that it is so easy to access via cell phone.. Meaning, that "dirty Joe" doesn't have to use his home/office/hotel or neighbour's phone..(lol)..Nor, does he have to go to the corner store and buy a filthy magazine in order to obtain a phonesex number..Nor, does he have to use the computer (which maybe is a "family" computer) to find what he's looking for... Instead, he just whips out his phone...from wherever he is... and types in F**K.tel.. or whatever, and follows the "adult" links to whatever he's looking for..then clicks on the "direct dial" number, and is off to the races..

How to monetize this? Well, the .tel owner may also be the owner of the phonesex lines, or perhaps a monthly fee paid by the phonesex companies, or...not sure if possible...but a charge directly paid to the .tel owner whenever a phone number is "clicked" on...

Everybody's thoughts are welcome on this...Even ddddot....hehehe.

Cheers!

Most of the premium .coms are parked or are already owned by major corporations. There are still some good .tels out there.

I've been searching for short, memorable, 3 letter acronyms that represent large corporate brands or focal market word phrases. These type of .tels will have an exponential Return On Investment (ROI).

I don't see .tel as a social networking site per se, but as a super contact page for mobiles that can be integrated with .com websites....

Hey, I hope Apple picks up Henri's SuperBook API for Apple iPhones.
This would really make for a nice search framework for .Tel.

Ive think 3 letter are good as fast to type on mobile phone. Ive got wso.tel and need 7 times to type in, shorter than phone numbers.

Great. Now tell me why .tel is necessary to accomplish this.

.tel is not necessarily "necessary". It is a tool that's affordable, simple to understand and easy to use .... for billions.

Hey Saucy Mac,

You are bang on. Millions of guys (okay, and not to be politically incorrect or chauvinistic, I imagine some girls as well) whether they have just finished a very stressful meeting, from plowing the fields, finishing a 12 hour stint on that oil rig or aircraft carrier in the North Atlantic or happen to have a quick few minutes in between gigs - want (need) an outlet from the strains of everyday life.

Millions of people do not have the benefit - or luxury of fast, cheap, secure, private internet access or the convenience of the corner store "wrapped in plastic" section because there is NO corner store! Does that mean that their "needs" just evaporate? Mmmm...don't think so.

They may not have the above luxuries, but, they do have a mobile phone.

.tel phonesex offers a very viable alternative. It's fast, easy, can be accessed from almost anywhere on the planet and is discretely billed to a telephone number or credit card.

If you are interested in seeing the business model we are testing, you can see 1 of our 40 adult sites at Pink dot tel. Just follow the links to the section in question here.

Please note that this is an adult site (with the appropriate warnings) and you are visiting to see the business model.

If you want any specific information, feel free to PM me and I'll do what I can to help.

Cheers,

If by "phone sex" you mean the 900#s of the 90s, the answer is a yes, but not a huge one, since that market has leveled out. There's money to be made, it's just very competitive.

If by "phone sex" you mean what that term could cover in the 21st century, then the answer would be a big YES.

As phones become more and more media centric and connected, the desire for people to view material privately on their phone instead of the TV or computer will follow.

hello, its been awhile since i posted here, just wanted to let you all know .tel is a hit not sure till when :) but it surely will go up due to the ease its going to bring into peoples lives in the coming years.

personally i think Directory .tel might do good then a specif name incase you buy it for premium and sell it for premium.

EG : i buy a name.tel for 300-1000 $ and think i might fetch 10,000-100,000 US$ might be my stupidy as the person might have an option to buy namex.tel for just 9 US$

x = numbers or initial.

so hold on to your Geos.tel , Generics.tel which can be a directory i hope and wish you the best.

as for phone sex related .tel it might do good but looking at bad econmy people would rather watch something then call and pay for it.

This may be old news but I have observer several posts asking about the ability to enable email within the .Tel. Personally, I don't see the reason for this as it somewhat circumvents the whole idea. In any event, for those that think they need it:

From the WebNames.ca site:
_____________________________
Email @ YourName.tel

Get one email account for life.

Go to TelHosting to add email to your .TEL name.

$1.75 CAD/month.

Dynadot problems

I have dynadot telhosting problem - I have about 10 .tel domains with Dynadot, but only 2 or 3 are associated with their telHosting. Any idea how to solve that, or should i just contact them? Tnx.

I had a few names at dynadot that were not showing up in my telnic account. I sent them an e-mail and they had it fixed in less than 24 hours.

what do .tel pages currently look like on the iPhone? does it require the .tel iPhone app to get the nice fancy look we see on the ben.tel and henry's video? or does it looks just like a regular .tel page accessed from a computer or somewhere in between?

on my sprint mogul it looks basic but i like the nice simplicity with dividers separating each contact field.

what do these .tel pages look like on your phone?

I believe there's a chance tel could get a lot bigger than other second hand tlds. Still I don't like to hope and pretend I've already hit some kind of an jackpot.

Many people believe that it seems, that everything are going to make them wealthy in the domain biz. I get an headache when I search the market place.

96% of all domains there aren't worth $50 yet many seems to believe they are going to get extremely wealthy.

But I guess it's the "new generation" -- And it will take time for them to wake up, either that or they will lose intrest.. :hehe:
