LOL... This entire article is nothing but a sales pitch from a Registrar, And the guy who wrote it didn't have the balls to attach his name to it.

The arguments for registering the TLD are incredibly weak;

"momentum is swinging for this domain extension as a growing number of small business owners learn just how valuable it can be'

Naturally the author provides no data or link to back this up.

But the most laughable reason for buying .mobi's is this one;

the fact that The Host Group has made the process of getting started extremely simple. There are no hoops to jump through or lengthy checkout steps to deal with. Instead, those who are interested in buying Mobi domain names are able to complete the process in a fast and efficient manner. The same can't always be said for other domain providers.

Leading hosting provider, domain registrar,

Leading in what? How much smoke you can blow up our ass?

This is actually a press release and most likely the person who wrote it is Doug Davis since it has him listed as the contact. Press Releases are typically written by the marketing team to promote products and services, special events, sales, or promote ways they have given back to the community. It basically is a sales pitch like you have indicated with the hopes that media outlets such as NBC, Yahoo News, local newspapers, and other media sources pick up the information and feel its worth writing about. So in general, as this release sits, it is just a commercial. A media outlet will only pick it up and print it if they feel it has backed up informational sources and is worth being promoted through their news outlet. Since Doug Davis is mentioned as the contact person, that would lead me to believe they do not have a marketing department and that this company very well could be a small operation since typically a CEO of a large company would not normally handle marketing affairs on their own. But that's not to say they are not reputable. Even small companies sometimes provide great services. So always do your due diligence and read up before signing up. :)

Thanks for the info Snowbird

So my next question is; Is the motivation of the OP to hype Mobi?.. To revive it from the dead?

Judging from the number of Mobi threads he's posted, I trust that it is.

In fact there is something true in the title of this thread, .mobi indeed exploded:
in the face of speculators.

But that was long ago :lol:

"The number of people interested in buying .mobi domains is going to literally explode"

"literally explode"

Meaning none left?

"Literally" refers to something that will actually happen. The writer's claim that the number will "literally" explode is simply more proof that the writer has no logical idea of what he's talking about. Pity to any idiot who takes this guy seriously.

Another 16,000 .mobi's registered last month.

Nearly 100,000 .mobi's been registered in the last 9 months.

Shame there is very little value in .mobi

Free ride on Hindenburg. I like the tags on this thread.

Sportsbook.mobi sold for 130k, but as of recent it appears that the account was suspended for not paying the bills LOL.

Like some others, I made a bit of money flipping .mobi domains in the first month. Unfortunately, also like many others, I turned down some very good offers on a very good .mobi, only to watch the value nosedive. Too bad, but so it goes. It's a hard thing to watch what could have been a great domain fall into obscurity, and even harder knowing I turned down $XXXX not once, but three times in the first week I had it
