The longest domains in the history of the Internet
"Registration rules for domain names in the domain .RU" allow the registration of domain names of length from 2 to 63 characters. In some countries the maximum permissible domain length is 127 characters.

As a rule, users prefer short domain names. They are sound, memorable and require a minimum of human effort when entering an address into a search engine. That is why the shortest domain names are the most expensive.

But some go against this trend and, on the contrary, stand out at the expense of extreme values. Our today's selection includes five of these daredevils.

1st place: the longest math domain (65 characters)
3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592.eu/

A great example of the conceptual use of a long domain name. The site at this address is entirely dedicated to the number "Pi", and the domain name represents the number itself, to the 65th decimal place.

2nd place: Guinness Book of World Records candidate (63 characters)
thelongestdomainnameintheworldandthensomeandthensomoreandmore.com/

"the longest domain name in the world, and a little more, and a little more, and more."

This domain was registered with the sole purpose of becoming the longest domain on the Web. Its creators have even applied to the Guinness Book of Records, but the Commission rejected it. The fact is that it is very easy to beat this record - it is enough to add just one character to the domain name. As evidenced by the domain that took first place in our selection.

3rd place: longest domain for long things (63 characters)
thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com/

"the longest list of the longest things on the longest domain after a long wait."

The site, which is located at this address, publishes record-breaking selections: stories about the longest, biggest, strangest and most outstanding objects and phenomena in their class. For example, the 10 longest rivers in Asia, the 10 richest people in Indonesia, the 10 countries with the longest coastline, the longest human tooth. In this case, the choice of an unusually long domain (63 characters) is justified.

4th place: domain of the city with the most complicated name in the universe (58 characters)
llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogogoch.co.uk/

"Llanvairpwairgwyngyyllgerychwyrndrobllllllllantysiliogogogogoch."

Another world-famous long domain. To the Russian-speaker it looks like a random set of letters, but in fact it is the unofficial name of a village in Wales. Literally, it translates as "The Church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel near the stormy maelstrom and the Church of St. Tisilio near the red cave.

5th place: a domain that is longer than all the text on the site (48 characters)
dowebsitesneedtolookexactlythesameineverybrowser.com

"Should websites look the same in all browsers?"

Follow the link and you'll get the very clear answer, "No." Ironically, this site itself looks identical on all browsers.
